Brightest Spot So Far This Season

Look at the statistics for the D# this season. They are better in every single way this season, even with the merry-go-round of starting lineups they have had to push through this season.

The stats are near the bottom of the page:

The brightest spots in the offense so far have been Double Trouble, and that pass from Moore to Smitty late in yesterday's game. The offense looks like it can shape up under Moore if they really wanted to, but the D# will likely be the main contributor in the coming games if the Panthers earn any more wins.

Not to say I am counting out Moore and the Offense. I have the utmost confidence that they will surprise any teams that face them in the coming weeks, and that they will thoroughly scare the poo out of any teams that must face them next season.

Just think:

An offense that runs the ball ALL OVER the top Run D# in the League, and is productive when needed in the passing game.

This offense is complemented by a spectacular defense that is good against the run (We will have all our best DTs back next season), and is phenomenal against the pass, averaging three turnovers per game.

That will make for a kickass season next year.

...now we just need the special teams to catch up. :cryin:

For me, it was the play of Thomas Davis(until he got hurt). All the INT's the D has been getting and the overall play of the defense(aside the run D), have also been something nice too see.

On offense, D Will has probably been the only bright spot too me.

With the kind of zone they are playing (not the scheme, but the scheme AND the execution) they are going to give up rushing yards.

However, the interceptions are particularly impressive, even if several have come off bad teams.

I'm not sold on the defense just yet. It is still pretty porous against the run, and with the exception of some great games, the secondary and our safety play has been pretty mediocre. Martin looked good, but Harris and Godfrey aren't so great in coverage.

All this being said, I like what Meeks has done and can't judge the defense too harshly given all of the injuries this year and the fact that the offense hasn't done them any favors.

We're down to like our fifth defensive tackle at this point.

The starters - Thomas and Lewis - are okay but Thomas is up there and lewis was always better as a situational rusher. The backups are Hayden and a guy we got off the street.

We did give up like 460+ yards to the Bucs.

The run defense needs some serious work. I think that next season will be better with *hopefully* a healthy Kemo & Davis. I absolutely love how physical we've gotten with Harris and etc. Pass defense is amazing, and it's nice having some depth with the addition of Martin.

When you look at our schedule, our opponents combined record is 62-58, and we've fought some teams with a prolific passing attack(eagles, saints, falcons, etc) and we're still ranked #6 in total yards allowed. red zone is what has really impressed me, if I'm remembering correctly we stopped the SAINTS in the red zone several times when we fought them.

one thing we seriously need to work on(aside from QB problems lol) is special teams. I want a fuging returner who can go the distance like Harvin, Knox, Hester, etc. Starting drives on the 40/50 is invaluable.

Would some decent coverage teams be too much to ask for?
