And Byrd is probably the fastest player on the team and Shenault was awesome last year.

I think we have a very deep, well rounded group of WRs as it stands now. Not a lot of drop off from WR1 to WR5/6.

Whats wrong with Byrd?

He has major injury history, missing time left and right throughout his career. He gets hurt on regular hits. He also has never been a difference maker in any offense he has been in. He is 30 and averages 10.5 games a year, 18 catches, 240 yards, 1 touchdown a season. We had him, he was nothing. We let him go and spread his wings, he had one ok year in NE and then its been downhill since, struggling to get time in a bad Chicago offense one year, and then a WR core in Atlanta that was missing Pitts and had a rookie as their #1.

His only trait is speed at 175 pounds but his speed doesn’t matter when he doesn’t run good routes and doesn’t get open. And at 175 pounds he isn’t going to shake off tacklers. The first dude getting to him is bringing him down.

I like Byrd he's decent depth and he's a good guy. But man the majority of this receiving core has struggled with the injury bug a good bit. Definitely want to see another added in the draft.
