The Whole "SEC" Argument is So Badly Flawed

So is like 5'11 195 the cutoff? And anything under that they're doomed?

Also, if Stroud was an "equally good prospect", he would be the pick.

It's not that there is a specific cut off, but the whole "show me the evidence that smaller QB's are injured more and have shorter (or less successful) careers" is such a badly flawed argument when the evidence is right there in front of you.

Name the best sub 6 foot QB's in NFL history

When Kyler Murray very well could already be in the Top 5 of that list, it's not a good argument as to why he's a safe pick at #1.  Particularly when you look at the guys on that list, they're short like Bryce, but they have completely different builds.

Again, is anyone actually that upset about the height aspect of it?

Yes, I realize I just used "sub 6 foot QB's" in my previous post, but that's really just saying there haven't been good small QB's.  If you want me to change it to "sub 200 lb QB's" I'd be more than happy to, as that's my real argument, but I don't think we're about to see a 6'3" 190 lbs QB either, that would just be absurd.

Very few, if any, people are saying he won't be successful due to his height, we're saying he won't be successful because he's not built to withstand the NFL punishment over a long career.

the success rate of smaller QBs is way higher than taller dudes. you're choosing to ignore that when kids start playing football most pee wee coaches aren't letting short kids play QB. that bias serves to help yours but luckily our front office isn't letting it deter them from the fact that if you get to the point where you're a consensus #1 overall pick, you've probably done some notable stuff on a football field, which to most objective people should be MORE impressive when you overcome stuff that others are born with

Show me one other 5'10" 190 lbs QB that has had a long career as a starting QB?

There are fewer shorter QBs because of BIAS.  Especially the old schoolers.  The same bias that refuses to show ANY evidence that smaller QB's get hurt more or have shorter careers.  Wilson in interviews has said he was told over and over he could never be an NFL QB.  Carol took a chance.

Arguing with you is going to go nowhere since you've already accepted the fact that bryce young is too short to ever be successful in the NFL and the cutoff is around 5'11 1/2 and 195 pounds.

Or play under pressure, which I think is a bigger indicator than S2.  Stroud's pff under pressure is 10 percentile.

So you're also choosing to ignore that this is literally an entirely normal CB height weight ratio and the juxtaposition that now, objectively, CBs take more contact than most QBs in today's league. You're completely choosing to ignore these things for what reason exactly? Because you're dying to post "told you" if our QB goes on IR? Seems like a fun life

jesus fuging christ, how hard is reading comprehension?

I've literally said numerous times I don't give two shits about his height, it's about his frame and ability to hold up for a long career.  I'll stop saying "sub 6 foot" QB's and start saying "sub 200 lbs" instead since people can't seem to figure out that people don't actually care about his height.

And everyone likes to talk about strouds game against UGA and they should. He was incredible against the beat defense in college football.

but Bryce was just as good, if not better, in arguably a worse situation.  It was in Knoxville, at night, in an insane drunken poo hole of a stadium, full of inbred Tennessee fans, the refs were paid off, bamas defense had some struggles, and the volunteers were literally trying to kill him.

He won that game twice.

Well you know what they say about Tennessee,

Population 15 million, 15 different last names.

And how many of those sized CBs are missing a few games here or there due to being banged up?

That's totally fine for position players to miss a few games, even elite skill position players it's okay.

That's not okay for a franchise QB to miss 2-4 games a year due to being banged up.

    • Rhule was GM for 2020 and 2021/final say/total control/______/head cheese   Then afters years of trying to find a QB, trepper issued a order to get one at all cost. Even without BY fumble and after the rhule driving the draft/FAs(member erving and elf lollolols) fittererererer was no improvement.
