*apparently false scores leaked* STROUD SCORES 18% ON S2 TEST (or maybe not)

Purdy scoring high on this test helped promote it.  I am not like some of the others, however, ready to denounce it without know what I am talking about.  This thread is full of people claiming that tests are not accurate measures of intelligence or performance--but they have not researched it or read research on it.

I want to say to them, "Who hurt you?"

Gimmie 6 months and all the PEDs in the south and I could hand off aka be a 49er QB for a few plays....they had the best team by far.

Smart agents would be having these kids take the test beforehand so they know how they'll do on it. If they're gonna bomb, simply decline. Better to have teams guessing how bad you'd do compared to showing them exactly how bad.

Sure, that all seems like 2+2 but it can the other way as well.  Large bodies tend to wear out faster which is also 2+2.

And to dive into a little more nuance....beyond build, luck and genes what else can extend a career in a physically punishing sport like the NFL?  The ability to protect yourself, know the situation and play another down.  I'd argue it's also 2+2 that physical specimens are more likely to stick their nose in it and pay a price.  I'd expect Bryce to very good at protecting himself.  Honestly, this is one big reason Brady's career was so long and successful, dude knew when to get down or throw it away.

The length of Cam Newton's career vs the length of Tom Brady's career reinforces the notion that being bigger isn't everything.

And that's what's been said with regard to Young. Hell, I've pointed out myself before that mobility isn't the best defense against getting hit. Fast processing is. Lord knows Young has that.

Inevitably though, he is going to be hit. That's where I cringe.

Just have to hope he's both smart enough and durable enough to minimize the damage. Lord knows he'll have a coaching staff that can help him in that area.

You and I have reconciled to complete agreement.

You wouldn't call Fitzpatrick a success?

I know he's not exactly a Hall of Famer but I wouldn't say he's a bust either.

Success is an interesting term. He’s successful by playing for so long in the NFL and accumulating a vast amount of wealth. He would put together some great games and then have some absolute stinkers. He was a back up off and on throughout his career, not saying he sucks but some are assuming Young will be great bc of a test scores. I’m just saying Fitz wasn’t great and probably aced all of his tests.

I've said before that I could be a return man in the league.

I'm certainly not the greatest runner (especially these days) but you'd be surprised how fast I could go if I've got an angry 300 pound man chasing me 😳

18th percentile. Not 18%.

still horrible

That's arguably worse.

That means only 18% of test takers scored worse than him, and this was his second attempt. So in a room with any random 10 college football players, only one player has a lower cognitive processing ability. Ouch.

I still like Stroud a lot, and if we'd stayed at 9, I feel like there's now a solid chance he would have tumbled to where we could get him. We don't need a mental giant at QB. Cam was never going to get into MENSA.

But when you're picking #1 overall, the stakes are way too high, and a score like that is whatcha call a red flag. I concede. Can't take the risk. Not only do I agree Bryce is the pick, but I actively don't want Stroud at #1.

Hooray.

I'm not really talking about money. I think he was a decent player.

Heck, if you go by money, Chase Daniel is more successful than a lot of players who probably had more talent and ability than him 😄

I don't even know about "smart" agents, it's just common sense IMO.  Like I mentioned earlier, what prospect would go into the Combine having never attempted a 40-yard dash?  So what's different about this test where these prospects are apparently going into this S2 never having taken it before, knowing full well it's part of the evaluation?  Maybe S2 has never really been on these kids' radar for the most part, but it sure as hell is now.

I dont think the test means nothing but it is weird this is the first year a big deal has been made of it.  If he scored 18, which seems like something is way off compared to the other scores, then I would like to hear it from him.  The s2 dudes said all the top qbs scored high so this is kindof weird.

Its because of Purdy. Pretty big hit for the test, he had the best score last year and obviously looked like the best rook QB despite being drafted in the 7th round, thats big time.
