Joe Person on QB visits

How does ANYBODY think Young will survive in the NFL?

Someone his size has a very very uphill battle. It hasn't been done, yet THIS is the guy to do it?! There IS no comp yet.

He's a scrambler, a time buyer without afterburners.

If Young at least ran a 4.3 I could say "escapability" if he gets cornered. He doesn't have elite speed to get away.

Y'all want to see this man get killed. Look at Tua, these guys won't even be trying to hurt him but the laws of physics cannot be ignored without great peril.

Stop the madness.

Well. We hope Will Levis isn't being considered.

And if Young had the lead as the best undisputed prospect of his class and generational QB level hype confirmed Chicago wouldn't have budged in any trade.

The consensus says the gap between the top 3 isn’t as wide as others suggest 🤷‍♂️

About the visits: They are going to Carowinds on their visit so they did not want Bryce slowing things down.  Nothing to see here.

First, Levis is not being considered by the Panthers. Second, are you arguing that we moved up to first overall pick so we could pick someone who was almost as good as Young without the resume?

Loved the animation though--I laughed.

There were a lot of reports that NFL teams were a lot higher on Levis than fans. He very well could be in contention to be the Panthers' pick especially since there's not been a peep about him and the team since those early rumors that Tepper liked him.

I am just joking with everyone because anyone who claims to know is being ridiculous.   We just watched a 6-5 250 lb running qb with a cannon get hammered out of the NFL in 8 years, yet people are all concerned about the size of the qb leading to injury.  As stated, by FAR the most common QB injury is to his shoulder.  By far.  Secondly, there are studies that show how the QB is used is a bigger predictor of injury than his size.  In fact, larger players have a higher injury rate.  Now that brings me to look into the commonality of WHERE the injury is likely to take place for QBs---I found this:

The QB is just about twice as likely to be injured when he ventures outside the pocket than within it.  Size might impact vision and throwing lanes, but a qb who telegraphs passes gets more blocked than those with a quick release.  So if his size is as big a factor as some are making it is actually the issue--we all know it is an issue of some degree.  If anyone has decided that a 5-10 QB cannot be successful in the NFL because it has not been done before, that is probably because they have not been given the opportunity due to close minded traditionalists.  This is a new era, and I think Young (and Stroud) will win games in the NFL.

Yeah, I get the concerns about injury, but it is a bit strange coming from a fan base that watched a 6-5 250lb QB who was built in a lab break down before age 30. Its mostly about usage, I don't care how big you are, you will not last long in this league taking hits all the time. If Bryce can be smart about the hits and process/get the ball out quicker, I think he will be fine.

To add to this, the fact that hes not a burner like Kyler may actually help him long term. We saw it with Cam, when you have the running ability, and you have used it all of your life, its very hard to not use it.

Also, some of the worst shots Cam ever took were from within the pocket when he didnt see it coming, Bryce has elite pocket awareness, hopefully he doesn't take some of the hits other QBs do.

Yes it does make sense...

No they hadn't made a decision before they traded up...

No they didn't trade up with just one guy in mind...

It might wind up being Young but that decision isn't made yet...

Actually reading what's been written by people with access to the team would greatly assist you in not getting so many things wrong.

They traded to one to get their pick of the QBs, not because they'd decided which one that was yet.

As a Falcons fan, I'm hoping for Richardson at 1, with the Panthers trying to duplicate their success with Cam or Buffalo's success with Allen.

Young is a pretty close second, he's not playing at 200, he's probably closer to 185. The shorter QBs that have succeeded were stout-Russell Wilson is 215 LB at 5'10" or from a different era of football.  I wouldn't draft him because I don't think his body can take the beating the NFL will give him.

Young, whoever drafts him,  would be well advised to go talk to Warrick Dunn, who was smaller than Young and played 12 years as a RB in the league. Dunn had an incredible routine of diet, massage and physical therapy that cost 6 figures every year to keep him healthy as a small man in the NFL.

Exactly. We watched a QB built in a lab for 7+ years fall off practically overnight. The years and years of hits he took because he did so little to evade, rather chose to bully over people, cost Cam years. It was highly entertaining and he's on my Panthers Mt. Rushmore, but that playing style leads to shortened careers.

We're already seeing that with Josh Allen and Justin Fields...and they are so early in their respecitve careers.

There's definitely reason to be concerned about BY, but not enough to solely pass over him because of his frame.

Since everyone loves the Steph Curry - PG comparison, look at the Kings who took the taller Tyreke Evans over Curry. Hell, Minny took two PGs back-to-back right before Curry and combined, are nowhere near the level of Steph.
