Another draft rumor—. Because, why not

Writers get paid to write.  And if you put something like this out there 3 weeks before the draft, people will forget about it.  However, if for some reason we draft AR, this writer gets immediate street cred.

Would a new coach who is building a roster to compete right now want a project?  If he likes the skill set, and we have a ton of cap room, why not pursue L.Jackson?  No--I doubt a new coach would join a franchise and go out on a limb like this--

Yep, as I have said before I doubt anyone in the FO that actually knows the deal is going to risk their job/reputation on leaking any info to Pauline.  Or mortenson etc for that matter.   I would say as we sit here on 4/6 probably less then 10 people know who we are favoring.  But I do think it does start to leak out heavy once we get closer to the draft.  Once the plan is in place people just know

Accuracy and lack of experience primarily. He played all of 12 games or so at Florida and didn't throw all that amazingly. His accuracy issues don't seem to be correctible like Allen's were based on his poor footwork. He just misses randomly.

He does seem to read the field well and navigates the pocket better than anyone in the draft save for Young, He is a legitimate running threat at the next level as he is built like Cam but even faster, plus the howitzer attached to his right shoulder make him intriguing.

But overall lack of experience and accuracy issues make him a huge risk.

His accuracy is also due to his lack of WRs running the wrote routes and dropping open passes.  They were already weak at WR compared to normal Florida teams and add in the injuries to the starting WRs.  He was running an offense outclassed against SEC defenses.  I'm not going to say it's a strength as he definitely has some overthrows, but they are usually when his feet aren't set.  I think he is as correctable and coachable as Allen and already looks much better from the pocket than Allen did in college.

Trading up to #1 for somebody who will probably be there at 9 would be SF/Trey Lance stupid.

Rhule would have done it, trade from 9 to 1 just to have the fifth-year contract option.  Brilliant strategery.  Trust the process.  /s

I don't know why people keep saying AR would sit for a year or two. He wouldn't, he would be the day 1 starter unless he really stunk it up at camp, which I doubt. They would tailor an offensive game plan around him and go at it. IMO the question is would Reich or whoever likes Richardson be okay with opening up the offense and adjusting it as the season goes on to let his QB grow or looking for something a little more "traditional".

If they draft him, they are doing so after being impressed with his whiteboard skills in their meeting and under the assumption he can get his footwork worked out through the spring and summer. Not necessarily scary ( to me ) with the coaches we are surrounding him with.

I think people are wildly overestimating how long AR would sit. I could see a scenario where he sits half the year or so until the BYE and then starts. You would build your offense around him similar to Josh Allen or Lamar, and play to his strengths. Sitting QBs years with how the transition has been smooth is non sense, the only reason the 49ers did it was because they were in a championship window. ARs rubbing ability gives him a floor to work at while he improves the rest of his game and tightens those fundamentals.

That being said, I’m still in favor of taking Stroud or Young. They both have very high ceilings and are farther along in development, and very young as well.

    • Rhule was GM for 2020 and 2021/final say/total control/______/head cheese   Then afters years of trying to find a QB, trepper issued a order to get one at all cost. Even without BY fumble and after the rhule driving the draft/FAs(member erving and elf lollolols) fittererererer was no improvement.
    • Let him play when he is 100% healthy. Still room to learn and improve.
