Where I'm sold...

He’s so accurate and so calm.

He has such a good ability to process, and his anticipation is so good.

He runs better than you think. He’s the complete package.”

“He’s the most accurate quarterback I’ve ever played against.

It’s like he couldn’t have handed the ball to his receivers any better, and they’re 30, 40 yards downfield.

He’s got high-level NFL accuracy and NFL vision.

I think he understands the game so well and gets it out in under three seconds.

He has very high football IQ.”

“His accuracy downfield is really special.

He’s bigger than you think and faster and harder to sack than people realize.

He’s such a pure passer and can make all the throws.

He does really unique stuff.

If we didn’t match a pattern or cover a guy just right, he took advantage every time.”

I think he’s got that elite mindset that is always neutral: not too high and not too low.”

He’s very smart.

He keeps his eyes downfield.

He understands protections.

Georgia’s defense is as good a comparison to the NFL as you’ll get, and look what he did to them.”

The biggest difference to me is that while people laud Stroud's one impressive performance against NFL tier talent, Young has two complete seasons against similar competition and was more impressive.

At the end of the day, I am fine with either but I do believe Young will ultimately be the better NFL QB.

Last year the Big10 had better defenses overall than the SEC. I think that Stroud actually played the tougher defenses (last year) especially since Young didn’t play UGA or Alabama (obviously) who seemed to be the only 2 decent SEC defenses last year. The Big10 had like 5 defenses in the top 10 and 7 in the top 25. I think the SEC just had a down year in terms of defenses. Now don’t get me wrong Stroud had MUCH better WRs last year to possibly offset that.

I don't mean good college defenses, I mean NFL caliber talent. The SEC has a lot more of that than the Big Ten.

Not that impressive of a schedule

Makes sense. I thought you were talking about level of production in the NCAA. Yeah the SEC will have more NFL players no doubt. Especially when you exclude OSU from the Big10.

It sounds great to say they play against NFL guys, it's still not the NFL. It is college.

Yes a few step right in, like, it is obvious. But NFL fans know even they are going to be better after a year in the league. So none truly give you what an NFL player does, in college. And then they will be playing against 11 NFL guys together playing on the field.

Coached by better coaches with better tools, it is exponentially higher level. So people are  mostly guessing. Like someone said, if a QB obviously worthy of a huge trade up for was in the draft, the pick wouldn't be traded. None of these QBs are sure things at all. I think a couple are real long shots.

Hot take:  bryce will be snapped in two by week 10

I think he's confusing a hot take with a shitpost. Even many people who prefer Stroud aren't declaring Young an outright bust yet. We so need to get this pick over with already lol.

In my opinion, it’s not even that close. You draft CJ Stroud. The popular belief is that Young has great processing speed. I believe he does. However, Stroud has quality processing speed also. He also possesses a stronger arm, has prototypical quarterback size, is accurate, can make all of the throws, and has surprising mobility and athleticism.

He has a stronger arm than Young. Young’s playing weight is about 185 pounds and the fact that he did not get weighed at his pro day screams that his combine weight is nowhere near his playing weight. I think Stroud is more accurate especially when you factor in his greater willingness to throw the deep ball. I think Stroud is more athletic than Young.

Young seems like a good kid. I really do wish him the best. However, I think Stroud is the better quarterback. I also think Stroud has a higher ceiling and is much more likely to have a long NFL career.

If it's between the two Young's processing is much better. Especially under pressure.

Even when not pressured there are so many times I've seen Stroud just lock onto his first read and wait all day for them to come open. It kind of scares me when I keep reading 'scouts' assessments of Stroud and then I go to watch a game and I see him unwilling to progress through his reads, especially when they're full field reads.
