Probably the best point that I've seen regarding Richardson...

From the article:

All of Richardson’s elite physical gifts were on display during his pro day workout, just like they were last month, when his performance at the combine in Indianapolis made many wonder whether he might become the No. 1 pick in the draft. But Richardson still likely won’t go first, because he doesn’t have a safe floor and needs time (which is not an option for the Panthers, Texans or Colts, the three quarterback-needy teams slated to pick ahead of the Seahawks and Lions) to work on his fundamentals.

His best path is definitely to go to a team that has an established quarterback in place and can give him time to develop.

We are not that team.

Not saying this is a good idea but Dalton is a very capable bridge guy

Everything you need to know about Anthony Richardson can be heard from Florida fans who do not love this guy.  He may be great in practice or underwear Olympics but he  doesn't know how to play the QB position when live bullets start flying.  If he struggled in college, what makes you think he can do it in the NFL.

Maybe he can, but will take time AND the changes are not in his favor.

My point still stands. Not all backup QB's are a fit with the starting QB. You can still have a running QB with a pocket QB as a backup. This has happened throughout history.

And my point still stands that Dalton has openly said he's here to backup and support the rookie QB.

That alone says the plan is already to start the rookie week 1, which in itself says AR isn't a realistic option, as he's not starting for anyone in week 1 unless the planned starter gets hurt in camp.

Not hard to figure out.

I'm old. Math seems different now than it did when I went to school. I will try and explain with an example made for this draft pick math.

Teachers never used number one picks for problems, so I will use apples. The Green apple is the 1st pick. The red apple represents picks elsewhere in the 1st round.

Here we go:

Johnny has two red apples, but his girlfriend Slutty Sally likes green apples better and Johnny is scared she'll cheat with Jimmy because guess why.

Jimmy has a green apple but no girlfriend and thinks two red apples is better than one green one. So Johnny and Jimmy decide to trade. Johnny gives Jimmy both of his Red apples, and Jimmy gives his Green apple in return. Deal.

How many red apples did the green apple cost? Hint... it is not one. He had two. If he had only given one, he would still have two. One green, one red. Still don't get it?

This new math allows 2 to identify as 1? Is that it?

I'm just gonna be completely honest. I don't care what these people

Then we can agree to disagree because I think AR starts day 1.

We don't have a bad roster no need for him to sit. The guy is a grown man and physical freak. Put him out there and let him learn from day 1. The days of #1 pick QB's sitting are over.

You don't same to understand the value of being a #1 pick. You don't draft a player #1 and sit him for a few years especially when our backup is no threat himself.

I tend to agree.  You can start AR day 1 and just keep it fairly simple like we did with Darnold under Wilkes with a few more RPOs and QB runs mixed in there.  It shouldn't be a wide open playbook, but I think it can be successful.

Which is why AR isn't the pick at #1, because he's nowhere near ready to start in the NFL right now.

Your lack of understanding the NFL in some of these posts over the last week or so has been something else.

There's so much time between now and the draft, folks have deadlines and word counts to meet to get their checks. We're going to see sooo much speculation and 99% of it really is just that at this point.

The other 1% ... probably pure gold, but oh so much harder to smelt away from the impurities.

I don't think the people down on Richardson have watched the 'film'.

Really?? Because the film says project QB .. What film are you watching..

Better yet don’t worry about I can already tell you might not know what actual film is..

    • I don't get the Hunter hate. Just imagine his ceiling if he stopped trying to be this 2way freak and focused on one side of the ball
    • 100%.  You have to play the cards that are dealt.  Not the cards you wish were dealt.
    • I'd say its definitely going to be addressed this off-season.  We went into the last draft with a roster of RBs including:  Chubba, Blackshear, and Miles Sanders. We picked Jonathan Brooks in the second and still signed Rashaad Penny afterwards.  Fast forward....One turned into a top 10 back, 1 is injured/out for most if not all the '25 season, 1 retired, 1 will either take a huge paycut or be cut, and the last is a restricted free agent. We brought in Mike Boone as well. Add him to the free agent list also.  We need a physical option.    Which qualifies:  Ashton Jeanty(Boise St): Overall ranked Top 10. Almost 2k yards after contact, 28 tds. Would take our first rounder. My money would be on an NFC East team selecting him. (97.2 PFF run grade) - 121 forced missed tackles.  Omarion Hampton(UNC): Ranked everywhere from 20 - 59 overall. Consensus #2 back after Jeanty. He'll be a second rounder. 1,222 Yards after contact w/ 15 tds.  (90.5 PFF run grade) - 72 forced missed Tackles Kaleb Johnson(Iowa): Ranked from 38 - 69 depending on which media outlet you prefer but generally #3. 2nd/3rd possibly. 1,060 Yards after contact w/ 21 tds.(86.7 PFF run grade)- 66 forced missed tackles Cam Skattebo: Ranked from the 50's - 104. Every mock I do he ends up BPA at some point. 969 Yards after contact w/ 17 tds(92 PFF Run Grade). Probably the best receiving back of the group. 81 forced missed tackles.  If the '24 and '25 draft classes were combined, IMO the rankings would be, in order: Jeanty, Hampton, Brooks, Johnson, Skattebo. I wouldn't take one high but I'd take one for Chubba and Brooks insurance.
