Is anyone else getting tired with EXCUSES?

Player wasn't great in college because the team around him was weak!

Player was only great in college because the team around him was elite!

Player played poorly in the NFL because of his O-Line!

Player played great in the NFL due to the system!

Player played poorly in the NFL because of his coaches!

Player played great in the NFL because of the coaching staff!

Player had NO receivers!

Player had to put the team on his back!

Player gets no calls from the refs and the NFL doesn't have his back!

Player played great in college because they were the most elite 1AA team!

Player played poorly in college because he had to play in the SEC on a weak SEC team!

It's exhausting.

Well it gets in the weeds a bit, but I’d be curious what their definitions of “clean pocket” and “under pressure” are. Important to know.

I’ve watched some all snap games of his, and he makes some good throws under pressure, or flushed backwards or forced to roll out a bit. Some off balance throws too. Just wonder if all those are included based on their definitions.

Not necessary defending him, as he may stink under pressure overall, but I’ve at least seen that he has ability to make throws in poor situations…so it may be something he could get used to, practice, and get comfortable being uncomfortable.

I also wonder if having elite protection most of the time would lead him to being more surprised when pressure does come, and if so, perhaps if he felt more consistent pressure, he could once again get used to that.

Who really knows how it will turn out but it’s interesting to discuss.

Mental processing, accuracy, pocket awareness, etc. are all forms of talent and both Young and CJ smoke him in those areas. Most physically gifted yes, most upside because of that sure. But most talented, no. He needs a ton of work to have any NFL success.

He's behind on accuracy, but they don't 'smoke' him - if he tweaks his footwork (especially on those short throws) I don't see why he can't match them. I actually think he's the best at standing tall in the pocket and has an innate feel for pressure.

Short (0-9 yards):

  • Stroud - (catchable / on-target) 93% / 87%
  • Young - (catchable / on-target) 89.1% / 81.3%
  • Richardson - (catchable / on-target) 86.7% / 70%

Medium (10-19 yards):

  • Stroud - (catchable / on-target) 80.8% / 70.5%
  • Young - (catchable / on-target) 87.9% / 77.3%
  • Richardson - (catchable / on-target) 83.3% / 68.2%

Long (20+ yards):

  • Stroud - (catchable / on-target) 73.8% / 52.4%
  • Young - (catchable / on-target) 75% / 53.6%
  • Richardson - (catchable / on-target) 70.7%/58.5%

AR will end up getting a coach and GM fired. He is no where near ready and capable of being a franchise QB in the NFL. His athletic ability is mesmerizing for sure but it takes a lot more than that to succeed at QB. I for one am glad he won't be our problem as there is no way we will pick him at 1.

I watch every game of OSU and have for years.  This year the OL looked decent in the beginning but wasn't great overall, a lot of pressure even against teams you wouldn't expect.  No push in the run game apart from a couple (I would call them) Over achieving efforts.  His protection wasn't amazing, it also wasn't Kentucky bad.  Too much trust in them to keep you clean is how it looked live.  It is what it is though, I've seen him face pressure and still turn out good performances so it's not a big flag for me.
