Bears would have accepted Moore, Burns or Brown.

You've got to let go of that past. Fear of the past only inhibits future decisions. There's a new Sheriff in town. Which means things around here are gonna be achangin.

Also, I think you need to do a quick Google search about Brown and Burns. They are both better than you give them credit for.

What have I missed on with either Burns or Brown? One is great at getting after the QB and is a liability in the run game. We’ve all seen teams abuse him from time to time by running at him.

And on the flip side Brown had his best season but he’s a run stuffer right now who we would hope gets after the QB more. I didn’t say anything crazy about them.

I don’t think anyone is denying that.

I personally can’t help but be worried when I look at Justin Fields college stats and  how strangely his career looks to CJ Stroud.  It’s bizarre the similarities there and Stroud isn’t a running QB like Fields.

Fields vs Clemson and Stroud vs Georgia.  It’s just weird.  Fields was incredibly accurate at OSU too

Burns was near the top at TFL among edge rushers. And Brown had more pressures than Aaron Donald. And we all know that pressure up the middle is the QBs worse enemy.

Now those stats are from memory from an announcer during the last game of the year. But they stuck with me, because of the prevailing belief of their limitations around here. So, take it for what it's worth.

Again I say, let go of the past and embrace the future. Everything is more fun this way.

Alabama had 3 starting QBs in the NFL last year. One in the SB.

OSU had one QB, who finished with the worst record in football.

WR's are easier to find. As much of a DJ fan as I was, he would disappear quite often.

DJ could rack up YAC but he always had a problem getting in the endzone, dating back to Maryland. He's been here around 5 years and barely cracked 20 combined. For reference, Thielen had 30 combined the last 3 years. And that'll likely be our slot guy. We've already upgraded in the TD department ...and I think at minimum another FA and a high draft pick are on the way.

Burns: If you get a proven pass rusher you keep that pass rusher (See Reddick) ... you can't just bet on high draft picks to duplicate that production (See Yetur)

Brown: Brown hasn't even hit his ceiling yet. We don't even know how dominate he can actually become. If he continues his trajectory he will be MONSTER. He played like Pro Bowler last season. Let's see what another year and better coaching can do.

Yea, I think DJ was the right choice. Just my 2cents.

Burns is not a liability in the run game. That’s a huddle myth. Since his second year he’s been decent at it, especially setting an edge to force RBs inside.

Brown is not just a run stuffer, he’s a disrupter who allows everyone around him to be better. Top ten DTs don’t have to be pass rushing DTs, the guys like Brown and Star might not get the flashy stats themselves but they allow everyone around them to play better and that’s critical for a defense. Look at what our defense was like after Star left. Huge drop off (7th total defense, 3rd vs run in 2017, 15th total, 12th vs run in 2018). That’s mostly the loss of Star.  If we lost Brown teams could moonwalk for first downs.

Look at the QB's he had since he joined the team a washed Cam, Bridgewater, Darnold, PJ, Mayfield...

He was putting up 1000 yards with those QB's. Yes he is a true #1.

If the dude had a elite QB he would be talked about as a top 5 WR imo.

Top 5? lolol

So, defense is more important than offense to this Reich led coaching staff to set the foundation of the team. A coach who likes to load up on 2nd round picks to set up his roster in the first 2 years, loads up on defensive picks in the early rounds of the first 2 drafts (6 defensive and 1 offensive skill position in rounds 1 to 3) and skill position players on day 3 of the draft. Yet, the thinking is they want a QB with the #1 pick who is not a consensus #1 franchise QB from day 1.

No chance they stockpile 2nd round picks by baiting QB hungry teams and go after their top defensive player in the 2023 draft. Right?

If you are giving Bama credit for Hurts you have to give OSU credit for Burrow since he spent more time there.

Right. They are drafting a QB.
