No idea if this a good or bad problem to have. Brain is telling me Young won't hold up, red flags galore about size.

Stroud feels like the safer pick, Youngs ceiling is so much higher. If you truly think he survive an NFL season you have to take him.

I find it ironic that the guys that want Young have never played professional football (Tepper/Fitt) while the ones that want Stroud understand just how much of beating your body will take being a starting QB. Just some food for thought.

A lot of times when there are a couple of highly regarded quarterbacks available in the draft, one of the top ones ends up being a total bust. Then afterward you hear people saying things like "How did we not see it?"

If that happens with one of the top two in this draft, I hope it's the one we didn't pick.

I just analyze the top QBs selected in pick 1 to 12 in 2000 to 2022. More often than not its the 2nd qb selected that ends up being a bust vs how often the first selected qb is a bust

12 out of 19 years (in 3  particular  years no qbs were taken in top 12 picks), the top QB was not a bust.

Young could be so incredibly good, but I just see Robert Griffin III getting killed out there and his career on the field just melting away so quickly.

Stroud is bigger, stouter and can make all the throws. Is he mobile enough? Maybe. If not that is his big weakness and we won't really know until his protection breaks down.

Both have massive upsides but a single chink in their armors.

Third pick would be Hendon. He can do this and he can lead a team. Just that injury is pretty worrisome. He would have had time to heal up, though, as we could run with Dalton for a game or two if needed. Had we stayed at #9 pick I'd have really wanted to see him get snagged by us.

As to Richardson and Levis, I agree wholeheartedly with @Mr. Scotthat I really don't like QB candidates that still need to be taught how to play QB. I think both are more hype and hope that reality at this moment.

Totally misread the poll.

I'm conflicted.  I think highly of both.  I'm leaning towards CJ Stroud though.  I feel like the floor with him is so high.  However I do think Young's elite playmaking ability could put him over the top in the NFL.

Personally as of right now I'm hoping we draft Stroud.

Young doesn't play RG3's game. RG3 was a runner who didn't protect himself and could really only make one read  at a time.

Young is a QB first but can scramble to extend plays, he doesn't actively look to run, think more Russell Wilson.

Young however might explode in the pocket if Myles Garret hits him because he is a skinny boy.

Between the two it has to be Stroud.

Stroud please! I think we’ll get a Roethlisberger type career out of him, for more or less. Maybe more!

Bryce has Kyler Murray floor with maybe a season or two of Jalen Hurts 2022 type ball before the wheels start falling off the wagon.

Will Levis is a Ryan Leaf floor and Tim Couch ceiling. In a proper system he could be good.

Richardson no idea how that will play out. Very high risk high reward.

Stroud all day

The more I'm force-diving on Young, the more I really like.  If he is an exception to the norm re:size, you could really get someone special.  I just feel all around soundness to him.  Mentally, maturity, game, he plays as smooth as butter.

Honestly, both of them have the mentality I like in QBs.  More chill, even keel demeanor with the helmet off, but attractors/people magnets.  They just seem grounded and ahead of where so many are from a maturity standpoint.  Some of the best have been just that.  Stroud is definitely more on the religious side, but to each their own.

CJ Stroud is plenty mobile enough for a pocket passer - I've spent today watching his tape from 2022 and there's plenty of examples of him rolling away from a rusher and extending the play.

He's going to mostly hurt you from the pocket, but he's not a statue. I have other worries about him, but his mobility isn't one of them.

Hooker at #9 would have got Fitterer fired.

As for Richardson - I think he just needs more time in the oven. A one year starter in a very poor offence (both concepts and talent) means he's underdone coming into the Draft. He'll need to sit and learn somewhere - if he goes to the right situation someone might have a franchise QB on their hands.

If you had to win a game of College football tomorrow you take Young - no questions. He's a better football player right now - he certainly has more of that 'IT' factor.

To me though the NFL Draft is about projection - I just see Young being limited in the NFL. I genuinely don't think he can see the middle of the field - you see him missing wide open players over the middle time after time. He also simply doesn't have the arm to make those off-schedule throws that Mahomes routinely completes (his most favourable player comparison). You would have to build your entire offence around his shortcomings imo i.e. permanently from Shotgun and most throws outside the numbers / deep down the field.

I'm not arguing Stroud is going to be a superstar either - I see plenty of flaws in his game too.

Im surprised nobody else is bringing up the fact that bryce operated exclusively out the shotgun and for a reason. This is why i cant figure out why they say he will adapt a whole lot easier to the league. I have watched stroud in shotgun, under center, playaction, etc.

I'd pie twice if I could, very true and something we should consider.
