Natalie Miller (aka Verge): per her sources, Panthers moved up to #1 to take Bryce Young

Bryce Young is simply the best QB in this draft. He can throw in the pocket and he can throw on the run. He makes plays out of nothing. He has that "it factor".

I think most want Stroud because of the size factor which is fair. But there is no debate that Bryce has a little more in his toolbox because of his ability to throw on the run and make more dynamic plays.

Im happy with either at QB honestly.

I don't think this is true. The dude can make all the throws consistently. His arm talent is better than any outside of Lawrence in the last several years. Young has other skills to make up for that gap but Stroud is the best pure passer in this draft and it's not particularly close.

Young is the best processor, but I would agree with Stroud being the best pure passer.

As far as arm strength, I've read more than one report that questions Young's deep ball, especially vs Stroud.

Counterpoint, they traded up after the Combine where Young refused to take off his hoodie and participate in any drills 'cos he was carrying 15lbs of water weight...

Scott said & it had also been reported that they started the process when they got the combine on Tuesday. They met in Poles room and had several meeting during the combine.

QBs threw at the combine on Saturday. Carolina started the process to trade for #1 on the Tuesday prior...If you still want to conclude they made the trade because of CJ throwing, that's on you.

Scott said at the podium again, he doesn't care as much about workouts for QBs. The tape is what they are concerned about...

Those who have eyes and hears know exactly who the pick is...

Stroud is the best pure passer with a clean pocket, worst pure passer (out of the top 4) under pressure.

this new era of wanna be twitter talking heads that write for some unknown sports blog just throwing poo at the wall and seeing what sticks is so annoying.

"the sources I know say ____"

if it hits, they get to retweet and add to their rep.

if it misses? not a peep. Remember the Deshaun Watson crap from this account?

"my source says it'll be today guys!"

claiming their "source" says Bryce is going number one is a really safe bet. that poo will probably stick.

this person had us taking Joey Porter Jr. in their first mock of the year just FYI.

let's work together and stop giving these sort of accounts the attention and credit they desire.

we're all out here just guessing.

Georgia game kinda shattered this. I’m sure there are stats backing this up but if that Georgia game is any indication on what he can do he has a high ceiling. I’m to the point where I literally don’t care who we decide between stroud and young though. Ill be excited with either.

He must have a much smaller sample size of being under pressure.  That OSU OL kept his pocket clean and he got the ball out fast.

It jumps out on film - his arm is NFL average.

I’d argue Bryce has the highest ceiling and lowest floor of all the QBs. It’s fascinating.

I’ve been on record saying I’m not worried about his size, I think it’s overhyped on this board.

I’d be totally fine if we wanted to play it safe with Stroud who I think at min is Jared Goff and has some legit upside. That arm is gorgeous.

Bryce feels like a guy if he hits is going to be able to carry teams to success with his processing and pocket skills. I’m super intrigued.

I hope you've put your mortgage on it then if you're so confident.

    • The other draft picks have turned out pretty well. Brooks will too.
    • I'm still not touching Hunter He again said the other day that he plans on playing both sides of the ball in the NFL.  If he is allowed to do that, he won't be as good on either side as his potential and he's going to have serious injury issues and have a short career.  If he's not allowed to do it, I think he's going to become a problem when the team isn't winning as he's going to feel him not being used on both sides of the ball is why. He's being coddled in that environment with Deion and I think it's doing a disservice to him to prepare him for life in the NFL where your coach isn't a 2nd father to you, to where you can just walk into his locker room and steal his shoes like Hunter does to Deion.
    • He’s a tad behind them. Around 15ish of 32 starters in the league. He’s well ahead of a lot of guys. Tua, Bryce, Cousins (present), Rodgers (current), Devito/Jones, Minshew, Russ (current), Watson, Smith, Carr, T Laws deep ball is weak as poo IMO, there’s plenty. And it’s not like everyone is ripping 60+ers. The key component is if you can rip and maintain velocity of the 30-40 yarders which he does super well. Legit every report out there from Brugler to PFF to PFN document him as good/above average arm strength.  Eye test tells me it’s pretty much that as well, slightly above average.
