If we traded to the 1 spot and gave up all that to get Richardson…..that seems like another poor move by this braintrust.

Nothing really against Richardson the prospect…but his odds were too high of being available where we were.    And if we weren’t head over heels in love with anyone why do it.   We could have just drafted a guy that had decent potential at our old spot.   Any of the 4 would be worth a swing to a team in QB purgatory.   Why give up all that we did.

Yes this ^^^
To give up what you did for the pick and to take a project is assine…. You already got to fixed the roster with less picks and a corner stone .. Why give yourself more work to train a athlete to be a Qb??

Shefter just said on TV yesterday it’s between Young and Stroud and Young has the lead right now..

None of these ppl know crap.. jmo

Any one of these sports writer guys will say anything on what their opinion is about who will take who. Just all blowing smoke to knock everyone off balance on who the real pick will be.

Exactly.

You keep DJ, move up to 3 and are still getting one of Stroud, Young, AR...possibly the '25 second rounder too.

You assume you can trade to any slot you want. You also assume the qb they want will be available. You are also assuming you know the qb preferences of all teams ahead of them.  They ONLY way you insure your qb will be there is getting the 1st pick.

They're probably all going to predict all four of the top QBs to us along the way. That way they can point back to where they were right at some point after it's all said and done.

I’m assuming now that AZ is trying to trade back now..

That's how these guys operate.  The only prediction that will matter is the one they got right.  No one will remember that they predicted every one of the at some point before the draft.  It's called  CYOA.

Well number 12 for starters.

Too much....unless we're sending back #39.

I'll take #33 and maybe toss a sixth back in it to make it a bit more balanced. With 33 and 39 we can make some moves or add two talented starters. Especially if we give up #39 for Jeudy. 🙂

It may not come to fruition, but these smokescreens, though they seem all over the place, can't hurt. Worst case, we pick our guy at 1.

I'm almost starting to think that Richardson is our target and that's why we'd consider trading down a spot or two. We'd still be thrilled with Stroud and Young but we're really tempted to take a shot on Richardson's immense talent... but we're scared of being kicked like SF was with Mac Jones. Signing an Andy Dalton means you're not forced to play him right away.

If you want to join the dots, Dalton was the bridge starter in Chicago before they deemed Fields ready to take the reigns.

If it was a smoke screen they'd be stating that the Panthers are enamoured with Young, as that's the guy the Texans want (allegedly).

With regards to trading up for a project - the Draft is about 5 years from now, not just this season. They may think that Stroud's ceiling is limited, Young maxed out in College and Richardson is the next franchise QB off the conveyor belt - who actually knows.

False, because the Texans aren't going to trade up if we say we want Young. The only way they'd trade up is to block the Colts from getting Young. So we make it look like we would trade to get to 4, where Richardson would be, so the Colts could get Stroud or Young, thus making the Texans feel compelled to trade up with us to get their choice, when in reality we just want Stroud.

So while we may not actually want Richardson, if we are willing to trade down for him, that may compel the Texans to trade up for whomever.
