Folks Dalton is a damn good backup QB--he has been starting in this league for a while.  No issues with this.

I think the signing of  Andy Dalton was a good deal because he is a capable starting quality player who can plug in if the first rd. pick isn't ready to start early in the season.

I think this means Richardson is less likely

If Richardson was the guy, I think we'd have signed Brissett as he'd be better than Dalton to start while Richardson sits and learns.  That combined with Brissett being familiar with Reich, he would have made too much sense if we were drafting Richardson.

I think this just signaled Stroud or Young.

I'm glad this was a priority when we have literally no weapons to speak of in the WR, RB or TE room.  But hey Andy Dalton is going to be a great mentor..

 

This is a horrendous signing at this stage of FA..

The panthers had to sign an experienced qb regardless of if they ever start or not.  This doesnt make it any more likely they are going to draft AR.  This was a required move for any rookie.  If anything to me it makes it less likely its AR because Dalton is clearly more of a veteran backup than a bridge.

90-95% of the time, if a team loses its starting qb, the team is in trouble.
