The problem with taking Richardson or Levis, is everything we gave up to move up that high, in particular with Richardson.  If we just had the worst record in the league and came into the draft with the #1 pick, then sure, go wild and take whoever you want to take, but once we gave up a ton of assets, it completely changed the equation.

The saying has long been, draft the wrong QB in the first round and it sets your franchise back 5 years, as that's usually how long it will take to then replace them as you generally let them play out the 4 years of the rookie contract before going after a new QB.

However when that happens, you're still usually a pretty bad team because QB isn't working out, and you're still drafting high and adding quality players in those following years.  Well, we just gave up our first rounder next year and second rounder the year after, on top of this years 2nd, and DJ of course.

That's 4 starters we gave up to make this pick

Once you do that, you have to limit your risk with the pick, as getting it wrong sets you even further back as you're not then adding those other starters to your lineup as well.

This is particularly troubling with looking at Richardson, who by all accounts isn't going to be ready to start as a rookie, or at minimum, not be a good starter that first year.  We can't draft him #1 and then sit him all year to play a middling backup and/or play him and end up giving away a Top 10 pick.  Cause at that point, with our other picks, we'd have been able to move up next year in a better QB class to take someone better than Richardson.

Thus, it just has to be Stroud or Young from all that alone.  And that's just disregarding that we could have absolutely moved up to #3 without giving up DJ in the trade.

Levis and Richardson are more day one NFL ready than Young to me because they are bigger bodies and an equally accurate and strong arm in Levis.

Risk reward value for Young is late first early second due to the speed, strength, weight and height difference in the NFL.

Young would give me Chosen Anderson vibes, praying for the guy to get up time after time after getting smacked.

CJ Stroud's dad may be a preacher but he is currently in Jail for "carjacking & kidnapping" and not eligible for parole until 2040.

Let me be clear, That has nothing to do with CJ's character or his ability to be great on & off the field.

But let's not bring up his dad's being a preacher as for a reason why Reich should/will pick him over others.

I know the staff will pick the best player/person for the organization.

damn that is sad man 😞

The front office would be fools to only focus on 1 QB, especially since there isn't a generational talent.

Thus isn't just about securing a franchise QB, it's about building the team the best they can, not just for this year, but for years to come. If they feel they have 2, maybe 3 QB's  are on the same tier, then it's certainly in the teams best interest to try to aquire more picks, despite moving up to the first pick in the draft.

Before the trade, they had no options, now they have options. Don't be scared for the team to explore their options, and do what they feel is best.

Somebody came out recently and said Stroud is further away from his peers as a prospect than in any previous group.

I think Levis checks the boxes to be the second best prospect in this draft because of physical traits as well as a monster arm. Me and Payton Manning think Levis is the steal of this draft.

AR comes in third for reasons more obvious to everyone after that combine and the player that needed to show up to throw gave the stage away to the others at his own detriment. AR to me as a developmental pick because of his dominant athletic traits leap frogs Young as a developmental pick.

If they trade down it's probably for a Levis imo.

Man you ditched that young lion faster than any other stalker around.

Nope. Young Lion stays and trains with Reich and McCown along with CJ Stroud.

Having two recent blue chip successful college QBs is better than having ONE. IF Reich and company is all that in the QB department then make us TWO good NFL Qbs then.

IMO, we moved to 1 to get a singular player, we MAY be tempted to move back one spot, but I don't think that will happen.

Everyone in the building minus, Mr. and Mrs. Tepper, will likely be gone in 3 years if this doesn't work out.  In that instance, you have to take the "most likely to make it" QB...that also checks boxes that make him a very high 1st rounder.

Stroud is the only player that looks like he checks all the boxes.  His interview with the offensive leaders of this team, if it were to go well, will likely wrap all this up.

Any of the other 3 bring some serious questions with them.
