It's Stroud and it shouldn't even be close

To give up that much capital to move to #1 and then release you would be willing to trade down tells me that you aren't taking someone who's gonna go 1 or 2 on most boards.

I think it's AR.

If the Panthers are serious about moving back it is for Richardson. I do not believe for a second it's a 1a/1b situation when they have an entire scouting department to make definitive rankings for draft day.

All I ever hear about is Young's lack of height.  There have been other diminutive quarterbacks in the NFL.  Maybe you remember them: Drew Brees, Russell Wilson, Michael Vick, Joe Theisman, and Fran Tarkenton to name a few.  Granted there has also been Tua, Baker Mayfield, Johnny Manziel, and Ty Detmer. I guess my point is this: lack of height shouldn't be the only consideration.  I'm concerned that that Stroud might be a system quarterback and we won't have the endless supply of receivers that the OSU turns out annually. I guess I am more impressed with Bryce's performance this past season with the Hodge-podge of receivers Alabama put out there  every Saturday. That's closer to what the Panthers have.  I think Bryce Young is a winner.

He's shorter than all the guys you mentioned.

A small forward can play center but the other team with everyone playing their natural position (height/weight)will win for a reason.

It's just life buddy.

It’s been pointed out countless times on here and I’m sure I’ll get flack for it. Yes, fine, Young didn’t play elite nfl players every week. Stroud will not have Garret Wilson, Chris Olave, Marvin Harrison Jr, Jaxson Smith Njigba, and Emeka Egbuka level wr talent gap over primarily big10 level CB. Terrace Marshall, Laviska Shanault, Shi Smith and maybe Jakobi Meyers… Adam Theilen, Juju… and whatever leftover is at 39 (I hope Hyatt for the team build purposes). Yep. Young will ALWAYS be small and that’ll scare a lot. But there is a chance that Stroud ends up being just a solid mid tier qb, unless ya surround him with real talent. And that’ll be hard to do until like 2024 because THIS team needs a first round WR. Not a solid wr 2 , a real bonafide one. It also needs a real WEAPON out of the backfield . Not Chuba Hubbard. It also needs usage at Tight End, not Ian Thomas.

Our build is exactly why I’m afraid of Stroud and get crap for it. If we had ATL weapons, fine yeah absolutely Stroud has 2 huge targets that are potentially elite. Come here and you’ll have to scrape the bottom of the barrel (and do not try to sell me on this FA class of wr please) at damn near all positions.

They aren't drafting for this one single year. You draft for a career.

And he was a literal freak one of a kind hall of famer. Those specs alone now are a dime a dozen. The average size in the NFL in Flutie's time was considerably smaller compared to now. Using him as an example of a tiny QB holding up now isn't very convincing.

i didn’t know i was trying to convince you of something. if that’s the case, then look at the last sentence of what i wrote.

Young or Stroud and I am happy.  I think Young is a better player but it’s close enough to bring size into it.  Stroud’s accuracy is top shelf.

I cannot see this group of highly qualified people settling on Richardson.  Just can’t

No way it’s AR at 1. You need a high floor if you are risking that much.

Then how about Greg Cosell??

Great listen. Cosell says the same stuff I’ve been saying for the past four or five months. CJ’s throwing ability is special, can do things not many young QBs can ever do with his throws. He’s plenty mobile for what the QB position requires and has shown it his whole career, not just the final game. Says he’s the top QB. Very complimentary of Young too, specifies it’s his size not his height that is concerning.

Ppl here want to find reasons to not like a player and will disregard opinions from professional analysts to do so.. So I just keep posting these opinions because at this point it’s crazy not to see how good a prospect Stroud is..
