I wouldn't have given up two 2nds plus DJ in that case then. Two 2nds plus DJ is a helluva lot more value than a future 1st.

The report was that we offered three firsts and two seconds but they required DJ and it was agreed upon that he would be the value of the final first round pick.

Honestly, I would've gave up the three 1st rounders. An additional 1st is a LOT more palatable than two 2nds and DJ Moore IMO.

I think it was a bad trade.

If the guy we select isn't a quality starter for the next ten years then we'll go down as a cautionary tale.

Meh, we are presumably getting our franchise QB and it‘a not taking more than one pick in each of the next three drafts. Net loss of one this year, one next year and one in 2025.  Didn’t like having to give up DJ but it had to be done. I thought the trade was really smartly constructed.  Value was fair to both sides (someone did a draft chart value comparison the other day valuing DJ as a 1st round pick, resulted in the trade being slightly favorable for us) and we get our QB.

Look at it this way--would we have been given a first rounder for DJ if we traded him?  No.  However, a 2025 first rounder is the current equivalent of a 3rd rounder--so from that perspective, the bears did well.

I mean, to give up your best WR and a late 2nd rounder for a franchise qb (in theory) for 2023 is worth it.  Next year, we should have a ton of cap room, so we can hit free agency for a splash player if we need one.  After that, in 2025, we will want that first rounder.  So I am OK with this deal--would you have done the same in 2011 for Cam Newton?

Another thing that people are not talking about with DJ Moore--he seemed to quit at times.  He got frustrated. He broke off routes when he knew the ball was not going to him, but the purpose of that route was to pull the S over---that causes an interception.  How often was that happening? So Moore had some problems that should not be forgotten.

If we get a franchise QB out of this it will likely be a bigger fleecing than the Greg Olsen trade with the bears unless Fields ends up being just as good as whoever we draft

No argument that IF the player works out right the price wasn’t an issue, I have been focused on if they have the bright future, or not. Crap shoot.

Apparently the Bears don’t think any are as good as Fields or why wouldn’t they trade him and take one of them?
Who here is sold on Fields?

Didn’t GB offer their first for him?
