I'd be a lot more hesitant about him without that game. But his game vs. UGA did for him what Fields' game vs. Clemson did for him, in my eyes at least. When I see a guy go out there and shred the best defense this side of the NFL on the biggest stage this side of the NFL playoffs it means something.

“Burrow is a one season wonder, Mahomes is a project and needs to sit a year to have a chance, Cam is a one read QB who is extremely raw….” You take your shot on your franchise QB or you have nothing. Saints will never sniff a Super Bowl with the new shiny vet 150 million dollar QB. We have some of the brightest minds on our coaching staff who specialize in developing QB’s. Our new QB coach just compared Stroud to Burrow. I trust whatever decision this staff makes compared to any other option.

To be fair can take your exact point above and include “Bryce is too small”

If Bryce were 6’2 the Panthers would have already turned in the the card.  Without the UGA game I think Stroud is still the pick but then again I don’t know if they trade up to 1 to get him.

If Bryce were 6'2, the Bears wouldn't be trading.

My big issue with Young aside from size is I really worry about his deep ball personally. A lot of times I feel like he has to get his entire body into it to get where it needs to go. I love him short to mid range though and QBs generally gain some strength when they hit the NFL.

He has a ball that reminds me of the Brady/Mannings where it doesnt really impress you coming out of his hands but it gets where it needs to go.

I agree with this. Young’s deep ball looks like lot more effort than most, but like u said, it gets there, so not a big concern.

the processing to me is the most important trait if u want a top perennial QB. Bryce is the smartest college QB I have seen in a long time. Like old Russell but think even better.

That’s simply not true. Watch the games. His reads were not usually open.  This isn’t a Fields situation, gotta look past the stats and narratives and look at what actually happened.

After just watching that 25 minutes video with Josh M, he shows how he goes through reads.  Defiantly was not one read situations in any of those that he showed.

I agree with this. He’s so damn smart and quick.

W/o the Georgia game, I think he's the clear #2 QB behind Bryce Young.

With it and Bryce's size, there's a big time argument to go with CJ instead. Knock on CJ was that he didn't handle pressure well and broke down when having to move. Didn't see that vs Georgia, so it's possible he can be coached up? Bryce's issue is his frame. That can't be coached up.

Why does nobody bringing up Bryce’s games against Georgia in this argument. He played them twice, went 1-1 with 4 TD to 2 INT and 790 yards.

Bryce’s games were also basically back to back which is as close as you can get to simulating playing conference opponents with NFL talents twice a year.

That was the GA game. The very game I said “if u take that game away, do u still put him above bryce”.

Understood.  Still doesn't change the fact that he went through reads and delivered.  The knock was "He only goes through 1 read" and I was RESPONDING to that.  If he can go through more than one read in big games, he can do it ALL the time.  See how that works?  Cool, glad you get it now.

You can't just say "aside from size" and move on like it's totally inconsequential. The guy is size of Johnny Manziel. It's a huge difference in how we approach building the offense around him because he is going to touch the ball more than anyone else. If you want Young then we have to go even heavier on addressing our oline. We've seen how he looks on a stacked Bama team going against mediocre programs. Any time a defensive linemen gets near him I will hold my breath.

He’s also the same size as Russell Wilson. You can’t just selectively pick a bust and act like that’s the end of the discussion. (Besides size wasn’t what killed Manziels career)

also just curious, if him playing against SEC teams + the best of the best in the playoffs is “mediocre programs” then are there any college teams you’d consider not playing mediocre teams? I’m not following that one.

Yup that’s what I thought. Size is the only argument…

im not worried abt size. QBs are getting protected by refs more than ever. Bryce will be fine as far as injuries. Injuries can’t be predicted. Big bodies get hurt, small bodies get hurt. Can’t debate an hypothetical which may never be a problem.

manziel is a bust because he couldn’t play not because of size/injuries.

let’s talk abt game flaws. What do u have on bryce?

That's the thing you're trying to make me out to just be a Bryce hater when I'm not. I think Stroud is more accurate and he has a better arm. But Young has plenty intangibles to like and he is solid in the mental aspects. There really aren't too many knocks on him in the most important areas. And the same can be said for Stroud but you aren’t giving him the benefit of the doubt because you only have eyes for Bryce. Getting back to size. Manziel was a fug head of the worst kind but he also was never going to replicate the things he did in college in the NFL and he was not going to play for 10-15 years regardless. You just don't want to face these realities for Bryce.

I dont care that much about the combine athletic numbers. I dont care about the 40, the long jump, verticle, etc. What I do care about is watching a qb throw to completely unknown wr at various areas on the field and distance. Watch the show CJ put on and tell me you don't see elite arm talent. His passes were pretty ontarget and simply effortless. That was an elite show and shortly after that, we traded up to number 1 without seeing Young throw at all. That's all I need to know.

If Russell Wilson and Kyler Murray are your only comps that can convince you he's your guy you might be in trouble.
