This has been the best offseason the past 10 years easy and FA hasn't even started yet

-Got a baller coaching staff. I was lukewarm on the Reich hire but he is addressing the issues that led to his downfall in Indy (retread aging QBs after Luck retired, poor coaches after Sirriani went to the Eagles and poached the Colts). Great mix of up and comers and established assistants.

-Finally addressing the QB position after the shitty Merry Go Round of has beens, busts, and XFL MVPs

After years of losing interest because of Matt Rhule, and the decline of Cam before that, it finally feels good to have intrigue in this franchise again.

This thread reminds me of the "We've already won the Darnold trade" after Week 2 of 2021.

Gave up the only offensive weapon we have, very may well pick a QB who we could've had without trading up, and collected more dead cap in exchange for the opportunity to do so. It'll either be the trade that makes people cringe, or one that was still a lot but netted the right QB.

Either way, good luck to him, because a couple TMJs and a couple Shi Smiths are not gonna be fun targets when camp starts.

You trust the guy who paid Ian Thomas and Dante Jackson over Hasaan?  Last off seasons signings outside of Bozeman who fell in his lap for cheap left a lot to be desired.  He can make up for it this FA, let’s see if he learned anything.

Lazy post.

We paid Luvu instead of Hassan. Value wise, I believe it was a smart move.

We are trending upward and have national attention during the dead of off-season. All eyes are on us now for the first time since 2015. We absolutely cannot eff this pick up. There are enough coaching years and wisdom in our war room now to prevent this from happening.

Hit on pick #1, given the state of the rest of the NFC South, and we become a dominant force for the next decade.

TL/DR:

    • The Athletic FS had a Panthers fan write in about Mykel vs Jalon. Derrick K was surprisingly in favor of Mykel but gave a pretty compelling argument. You’re getting a baseline great run defender with some nice pass rush potential. You’re not getting the hyper athletic, violent, burst off the snap type, but he’s a grinder who can maintain a great level of play throughout a game. He’s the ideal type to eventually have paired with the more peppy/athletic edge rusher. No one says to avoid a 1B just because you don’t have or can’t find a 1A. And who knows, he could still become a double digit sack guy. 86” wingspan is monster. With Jalon, you’re using him as an EDGE. So you’re banking him fitting a super rare spot, that only Parsons has really followed through at. Myles Jack and others just didn’t work out as well. They mentioned you may just be getting a shorter Luvu-plus rather than a Parsons-lite.  Mykel at 8 will not surprise me in the least, and it could be a solid move.
    • I thought you said he never made use of a TE in his systems before... seems like from your post that he did. Just sayin'...
    • Oh, I'm not giving up on him, and I hope he grows and grows into a great TE, but he is far from dominant on the field right now. Pair him up with another young, but dominant TE and it opens a world of opportunities for our offense, both in the passing and rushing game. We would move more into the dictating our game to the other team than having their defense ram what they wanted to down our throats. We need hitters on offense. We need multi-role guys on the field. And we need some punch in the now before Thielen finally gets caught by Father Time.
