Confused Why Some Seem to Think We Got Fleeced

Best-case, it's Stroud throwing to ditch-diggers and overpaid USFL tight ends.

Worst-case, it's all of that but Levis.

I mean that might be the case if FA and the draft didn’t exist. You act like we’re gonna add a QB and nothing else.

All signs are pointing to it being Stroud, with Young also being possible.

That's wishful thinking. Nothing's been proven, and Reich might have a hard-on for Levis. If Stroud is the pick, OK. Still shouldn't have given up Moore. If Young is the pick, shouldn't have traded to 1.

Nothing is going to be proven until draft night. If you’re looking for them to announce who they’re picking right now then you’re going to come up wanting. I’m bummed about losing DJ but I understand that it was all part of the calculus of obtaining a franchise QB. I’m going to withhold judgement until all FA and draft moves have been made.

I had an expectation that if you're trading to No. 1, you know who you want and you don't mind leaking it.

This is the first time in NFL history that's not been the case, and since it's a David Tepper-owned team, it's not surprising in the least.

it is what it is has to be the most quintessential bit of coachspeak of all time.

i'm opening my mouth, and noises are coming out, and the noises even form words, but i'm not saying anything.

I mean, it was maddening at the time but it was a truly beautiful gift to all Panther fans in the long term.

That's not a lot to give up for the #1 pick. WRs are easier to get than QBs. We have messed around with the QB situation for years and it hasn't worked. Now we have OUR choice. Not whoever is left over. We control this draft.

I would have expected to give up more to get to #1 from #9.

I feel like i am one of the more pessimistic fans on here, and I like the trade. It means our staff knows who they want, which brings me a lot of comfort because i'm not sure. There was no guarantee that we would get one of the top four qb's at 9 or that it might be AR if we did. I switched my mind and now think it CJ at 1 not Bryce. Either way we now know we got our qb so let's go get some free agents.

You may be right, but I feel they DO know who they want.  But they are being smart enough not to say because that leaves open the possibility of still getting him with a trade down.

    • I'm still not touching Hunter He again said the other day that he plans on playing both sides of the ball in the NFL.  If he is allowed to do that, he won't be as good on either side as his potential and he's going to have serious injury issues and have a short career.  If he's not allowed to do it, I think he's going to become a problem when the team isn't winning as he's going to feel him not being used on both sides of the ball is why. He's being coddled in that environment with Deion and I think it's doing a disservice to him to prepare him for life in the NFL where your coach isn't a 2nd father to you, to where you can just walk into his locker room and steal his shoes like Hunter does to Deion.
    • He’s a tad behind them. Around 15ish of 32 starters in the league. He’s well ahead of a lot of guys. Tua, Bryce, Cousins (present), Rodgers (current), Devito/Jones, Minshew, Russ (current), Watson, Smith, Carr, T Laws deep ball is weak as poo IMO, there’s plenty. And it’s not like everyone is ripping 60+ers. The key component is if you can rip and maintain velocity of the 30-40 yarders which he does super well. Legit every report out there from Brugler to PFF to PFN document him as good/above average arm strength.  Eye test tells me it’s pretty much that as well, slightly above average.
    • 6-10 carries for  35-45 yds and 3-5 catches for 15-25 would be great.
