Confused Why Some Seem to Think We Got Fleeced

At the end of the day it did take 3 1sts because we value Moore as a 1st. We turned down a first from GB for him. The difference is we need some cap room and the Bears need some established player so it works for both teams. I’m glad they took 61 vs 39 this year. 39 should be a solid starter as well. I also wonder if we package our 2 4ths for a 3rd during the draft.

Because they listen to the pundits who are biased toward big market teams like Chicago.  This is a good trade for Chicago too IF Justin Fields develops into a true franchise QB and a competent passer  (jury's still out).  It'll also be interesting to see if  DJ Moore can prove to be the WR1 that Fields needs to do that.

For the Panthers, it's absolutely a great trade assuming that CJ Stroud or B. Young is our franchise QB for the next 10-15 years.  Simple as that and totally worth it.

I honestly thought we would have to give up two additional firsts and trading DJ instead is better because I'm not sure he has that value with his contract.

This. When I went to look up some opinion videos on the trade it was basically all from Chicago’s perspective. It’s funny how high the opinion is on DJ Moore all of a sudden. Suddenly, he’s some top 5 level WR when the Panthers trade him.

I understand. Do you like the Reich hire? Also who do you think the top QB is? If this was Rhule I would probably be right there with you…

I liked the Reich hire (it was him or Wilks for me), but if he signs off on someone who didn't put up 346 yards in the CFP semifinal, I'll gladly call it a mistake. There's the only player who can transform a franchise for the better in this draft.

But nothing is more Panthers than avoiding that guy. Simply put: if you take a series of options, and predict the worst one with this team, you're gonna be right more than you're wrong. And I'd gladly eat crow if Kyler Jr. pans out.

If anyone else is the pick, I'll help them pack boxes for their next city.

I thought it was a very fair trade for both teams. So considering how many QB needy teams we needed to jump I thought we did very well

I think Moore is going to go off in Chicago. He is a much better deep threat than people realize due to our QB situation over the years. Moore and Fields will make for an exciting duo

At the end of the day, nothing matters in this league unless you have your QB. So this was a trade we had to make

You have to have a QB who can actually throw for that to happen. Fields ain’t that guy

So if it’s Stroud are you ok with this trade to get him?

The only way we will know if we go fleeced is to look at this a few years from now.  If we draft Young or Stroud, and they turn out to be the next Patrick Mahomes, it was a great deal.  If we draft one of them and it turns out that the qb is a bust, and the Bears become a playoff contender, then we got fleeced.

If both teams still suck, then it doesn't matter.

    • I see the design and intentions.  However, all have to play to their abilities and beyond it.  No slumps, no major injuries, etc.  I have not been this optimistic (perhaps my standards are low, like a drunk man picking up chicks at a Tupperware party) in about 7 years.
    • That was the move that broke off my relationship with Dave. MFER!!!! With Norman that was the best chance to have back-2-back winning season........Just ride out the tag. If he didn't want to show up, fine his arse. He's getting 16-17 million more than his previous 4 years combined. fug...... He didn't even try and trade him either, just got ultra butt-hurt with feelings and dumped a prime player......... I was not in agreement with long term either. Still one of the best football minds scooped him up and made him the highest paid....... So dumb the whole way it played out.  Then he used nearly the whole draft to find Normans replacement and ANOTHER STARTER, just asking for failure. After QB, CB is the hardest spot to play as a rookie. You got to run backwards with a 230 6'3 4.3 40 Juilo Jones???????????? Impossible and Norman did it as well as anyone not named revis. Then next week you got Mike "tying records with Jerry Rice" Evans whos taller...... No breaks next week you got Drew Brees, Closton and cooks with Payton calling plays like a shark in bloody water.
    • I think you all make good points, but Kungfoodude, in my view, hits the nail on the head.  We play him, Wallace gets pined for a season.  Wallace (and Cherulus for that matter) are trending up.  Not sure we can say that about Pratt--we have seen his peak--we need to find out what we have in Wallace.  He needs reps and I am sure he will be better later.
