Look at the records (at the time) of the teams who made those moves.

2016:

The trade between Rams and Titans.

Tennessee gave up trade value of 3104.2 and received trade value of 3365!

From the research I’ve done in 2001:

The trade between Chargers and Falcons.

Chargers gave up trade value of 3000 and received trade value of 2376! (Chargers must have received something else to match what they gave up in trade value)

That's not enough reason to not swing this year.

Fug this timid crap. If you're confident, you go for it.

Is it just me or is the truly bold move the signing of Lamar Jackson?

The draft is the draft. There is a true young franchise QB accepting offers rn….

Have you not been paying attention to who makes up this coaching staff? These are guys who knows offense and knows QBs. If there's a coaching staff that you should trust with deciding on a QB, it's this one.

Frank fuggin Reich

Jim Caldwell

Josh McCown

Just these guys alone should be enough to warrant confidence in this team's ability to choose a good QB. It is for me anyway.

I think their judgement on making this move is better than any staff this team has ever had. Conversely, I think they also have the ability to rationalize regarding “how much is too much” if it comes to that.

I'm pretty confident with whose in charge which is good as I have no say in the matter.

A franchise qb is never too expensive. A franchise qb will bring in millions of revenue, notoriety, keep you in contention for super bowls. Invest in the now!

How do you know he is a franchise QB?  Nothing is guaranteed.  Trevor Lawrence was the perfect QB that has been good,  not great.  No Lawrence here.  Giving up 3 firsts is incredibly risky for any of these players

How do you know that he WON'T be a franchise QB? Life is all about risks, everyone knows that tomorrow is not guaranteed, but if you also don't take risks you'll never achieve greatness. Do you know what your future holds? You don't, but you do the best that you can and make a calculated decision!

    • My understanding is that Canales was asked about Tommy Tremble. Canales stated he had had back surgery, it was successful, and that they expected Tremble back for Training Camp. The Panthers PR person later clarified that Tremble will start TC on the PUP list. However, PUP during preseason isn't like PUP during the regular season where you definitely will miss time. Tremble can come off the PUP at any point, and to me Canales' statement made it seem like they were expecting him fully back near the start of TC. So, reading the team leaves, it seems like Tremble will be at TC but not practicing at least initially. Canales seemed to indicate he expected Tremble to be a part of TC, so that would indicate they anticipate him being activated around the start of TC. In terms of concern, who can honestly say? Its certainly not ideal that the surgery took place now. However, it does seems like this is an issue the team was fully aware of, and the plan was to rehab without surgery. The concern is obviously Tremble wasn't fully recovering without surgery, now the surgery will at least impact TC, and surgeries are never guaranteed. And back injuries linger and rarely completely resolve. Still, there are a whole gamut of procedures that constitutes back surgery, and while surgery is only "minor" when it's not your own, this doesn't seem to be a minor procedure. Tremble is in the building this week, so it's obvious hes not incapacitated or anything. Will just have to wait and monitor.  Im excited to see how JT Sanders and Mitchell Evans look in 2 TE sets since they fit more differentiated roles (Sanders is primarily a receiving threat, and Mitchell is more of a traditional TE). I hope Tremble is fully healthy for Week 1. This isn't the flashiest TE group in the league, but I think given the emergence of Sanders, as long as Tremble and Evans can be good role players we should be fine.
    • Meh camp is where Bryce looks the best. The answers will start to trickle in during the joint practices and that game but game 1 has been the real starting line for the reality of the season the last 2 years.
