Canes vs Canadians 7pm

Recommended Posts

Last Time Out: The Canes ran it up on the Arizona Coyotes on Friday in a 6-1 win, flew across the country on Saturday, and then did the same thing to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday. This victory may have been even more impressive though, considering the standings and the three-time Eastern Conference Champions being held off the scoreboard as a whole, with 6-0 being the final. Teuvo Teravainen recorded his second career hat trick and Jesperi Kotkaniemi published a career-high five points in the victory.

A Ghost Has Appeared: After scoring a power-play goal in his debut with the team on Friday in Arizona, Shayne Gostisbehere followed his opening act with more of the same on Sunday. Registering another tally on the man advantage and adding two assists as well, the team's new #41 became the first defenseman in franchise history to score a power-play goal in both of his first two games with the team.

N3cas: Canes forward Martin Necas enters tonight riding back-to-back three-point performances. He now has 15 multi-point performances this season and he has now established a new single-season career-high with 22 power play points.

500 For Fish: Sebastian Aho is set to play in his 500th NHL game tonight.  He has registered 456 points (209g, 247a) in his Hurricanes career and trails only Ron Francis (1981-88: 183-386-569) for the most points by any player through his first 500 games with Hartford/Carolina.

Puljujarvi's Debut Possible: Newly acquired forward Jesse Puljujarvi could debut as soon as tonight for the Canes. Acquired last Tuesday from Edmonton in exchange for unsigned prospect Patrik Puistola, the 24-year-old winger had an appointment yesterday in Ottawa to resolve his visa issues before heading to Montreal to meet the team.

Thursday, February 16: Seth Jarvis records his first NHL hat trick as the Canes dominate Montreal on Cam Ward's Hall of Fame Night. With his dad in the building during the Father/Mentor Tour.

Forwards:

Svechnikov - Aho - Jarvis

Teravainen - Kotkaniemi - Necas

Martinook - Staal - Fast

Noesen - Stastny - Stepan

Defense:

Slavin - Burns

Skjei - Pesce

Gostisbehere - Chatfield

Goalies:

Raanta

Andersen

The only question is do the Canes healthy scratch Stepan and let the Pool man get some ice time? I doubt it as he arrived in Montreal just in time for the morning skate. Probably see him Thursday night at home against Philadelphia. It'll be much more welcoming and comfortable.

Has he figured out his visa yet? I know it says he has an appointment but that doesn’t mean it was resolved.

    • Honestly Bryce is a conundrum right now I'm not really sure what we should do with him but I am content on him being the quarterback number one going into next season. I think we should allow him the chance to play out the season to prove that he's the quarterback he can be going into next season.  I would not waste a high draft pick on a quarterback because I'm not sure anyone in this up and coming class is as good or has the ceiling that he had with that said I wouldn't throw away the future I would bring in someone like Justin Fields to have him looking over his shoulder and give us a plan b if everything doesn't go right on a one-year deal. I think the priority right now if tepper wants to make a big splash is find a way to get Travis Hunter that would be option 1AA because he helps with both sides of the field either way whatever you need defense or offense. Make that happen and then go mostly defense the rest of the way and we're cooking.
    • Move on from what?   Let me guess we gatekeeping on who we can and can't appreciate?   Next time I will just make a Kuechly appreciation thread lmao
