Yup.  While not what I would want there, the rational is solid.

He could play G for a year, and move on from Moton after this year and kick him out...again, wouldn't love it, but focusing on your offensive line isn't the dumbest move in the NFL....and is likely one of the best.

It would also depend on if we plan on keeping Erving or not as a backup tackle. As we've seen across the league though, having a tackle that can step in and play at a high level is a bit of a luxury but a necessity to an extent. I'm sure the Chiefs would have loved to have someone else, anyone else, playing against Tampa in the SB. Dallas plugged in Tyler Smith. I would prefer to address our QB situation if possible, or get QJ, or even trade down a few spots if we can add a 2nd and 3rd and still get the best fit for what we need.

Look....if he is BPA at 9 I am not against it. There is always space for good linemen and you need bodies there anyways. Injuries always happen, seems especially tough for O-line. On top of that they can get hurt and the odds of returning to form are a lot harder due to sheer size. I don't think its a bad idea to have as much of a rotating factory for offensive linemen as you can and if the value of picking DE, WR at 9 isn't there and this guy is someone the team can see playing 10 years.....its not that crazy. Plus it keeps whatever QB you base this franchise around healthy and productive.

As Panthers fans we should rejoice if they are not going to let us fall back into the dark ages of offensive line play again. The days when the QB was an open target all game. Only due to the fact that HE was a freak of nature did he even last as long as he did. It was scrubs all the way down. We had fuging DTs playing the position.......

Oh yea.

At 9, I'd want a QB first....after followed by whichever....OLB/pass rush, WR, or trade back some.

There is no chance of this happening. There are certain people in sports media who don't watch Panthers games, and don't know much of anything about the Panthers. The problem is that they are still required to make predictions, and they don't want to study the Panthers, so they just take a random guess and this is what you get.

If the board fell that way we would probably trade down to a tackle hungry team and take AR. Or take some other player at 9, or something that made some kind of sense.

I really like DJ, but this mock ain't it. He is one of the most knowledgeable and informed analysts out there, especially when it comes to us.  He's always been fair too.  But this makes no sense regardless of FA.

We definitely would go Edge/TE/WR if not QB, imo.

yeah, it was obviously written by someone that isn't really paying attention to the team. i'm surprised that its Jeremiah that did it.

For the first time maybe in franchise history starting OT is actually clearly NOT a need. I'd be shocked if we took an OT.

I suppose my shock level would depend on what they do in free agency.  Yes I too would be surprised that in that scenario they would go oline over dline.  I guess he is the best olinemen in the class so there's that. Other than that I see no scenario where they would draft the guy.

As evidenced by the replies, this is clearly a subtweet about Panther's fan's reaction to his mock. If he thinks we were complaining all last fall about our OL play, then maybe he's not as tuned in as some think.

As a general rule, that's true EXCEPT for last year. The only reason there's really concern at this point is the injuries to Corbett and BC.

We're not talking generally, we're talking about specifically this year and this draft. And like I said earlier, spending a first round pick on OL depth is ridiculous.
