Things you saw of Moore that you didnt like

Always, on the forum but do not post much. Here are my two cents. I was excited to see a new QB at the helm. I thought Moore played great the first two drives. After that the offensive line was allowing pressure even though the Bucs were only rushing four. We have the beef up front to run the ball but are piss poor in pass blocking.

Moore had three terrible passes today but looked much better than Jake has all season. More reps through the final four games may define him as starting material for next year.

It is hard to evaluate Moore today. Other than the long reception to Smith in the 4th quarter, he didn't do much at all. He had 1 good drive, a short field drive and not much else. But I don't know it was his fault as much as keeping him on a short leash and generally poor playcalling by Davidson. I expect we will to unleash him in New England to keep up with the Patriots so we can see if he is for real or not.

We surely can't count on any other quarterback we face this year to give us the game like today. Other than the picks, our defense was generally awful. We are going to have to play a complete game on offense and defense from now on or lose, simple as that.

It would be great if Moore did the job. Even if we bring in someone in the draft, we still need a starter like Moore to play and show them the ropes. Otherwise it will be you know who playing.

I'll second that. I find that evaluating a backup can be misleading if only looking at the first game. I still remember how "well" Weinke looked when he led that drive against Detroit in 2005 only to look like a backup in the 2006 season. Same thing with David Carr that looked servicable against Atlanta when Jake went down in 2007 only to...well, you know.

Based on what I've seen:

+ Mobility: Good for the bootleg plays.

+ Arm Strength: Can throw it long so that's good. Question becomes: Can Moore rifle it down the field like the old Jake?

- Throwing Motion: Might be just me but it looks slow.

- Pocket presence: Might be first game jitters. We'll see next week.

I will say that we're not going to get the same number of turnovers from the Patriots and we can't play as conservatively as we did today and expect to win. That football is going to have to travel more than 5 yards down the field.

Only complaint was the TD he missed in the corner of the end zone. Aside from that, I thought he played well. We didnt ask him to do much this week given who we were playing and how effective our running game is against them. That being said, Moore was serviceable and didnt go out there and hurt us or take us out of the game. At this point, I'll take that over what we had out there.
^ This, for sure. Took the words right outta my, er, fingers.

Cardiologists all around the Carolina's were bummed to see Jake on the bench. I'm sure the Monday appointments are way down.

I liked Moore's excitement and enthusiasm, especially on the big play to Smith - he appears to have the drive to win, and hopefully a leadership quality that will develop. I hope he is given the chance to continue.
