To Dave Tepper's credit, he has learned from his past mistakes.

He's leveraging one big advantage he has over almost every other owner, more money, applying it to build the best coaching staff possible.

This is reminiscent of assembling an Olympic team from the best professional superstars available.

Dave's going large.

Can't wait to see what free agency and the draft have in store for us.

I am excited about this staff.  How does this coaching staff compare to the staff Reich put together in Indy...at any time?  Can't imagine it would compare with this.

In Indy: https://www.colts.com/news/indianapolis-colts-finalize-2018-coaching-staff-20394484

Notables:

Jonathan Gannon - Cards HC

Nick Sirriani - Eagles HC

Matt Eberflus - Bears HC

Bubba Ventrone - Highly regarded

Marcus Brady - now w/Eagles - Has been tight with Nick & Frank for a while.  Was one of the first to get the short end of the stick with the whole Irsay meddling.

Kevin Patullo - now w/Eagles

Had Robert Mathis as a defensive consultant

--

The rest were positional guys that had anywhere from 5-13 years experience, but no well known types

Not even close to the overall experience of this staff.  Seems to have really pulled out all the stops with Tepper's resources.

Why not? Reich was lauded for his prep work on potential staff. Fitterer has not been a part of a single head coach/staff hiring process in his entire career before this year. Same goes for Morgan but at least Morgan is clearly more experienced with NFL coaches.

Again, based on why Reich got the job and the GMs lack of coaching staff hiring/building, it is absolutely valid to downplay their credit with building the staff outside of hiring Reich.

You really don't know what Fitterer has been involved in, or more importantly what he knows. Fitterer is very well-respected across the league, and he's very well-connected. He knows his stuff, and he's likely a driving force behind why Reich and others are here right now.

A portion of Reich's Colt staff was actually assembled by Josh McDaniels. I don't know how large a portion, but I do know DC Matt Eberflus was a McDaniels hire.

He tweaked it during his time there but this time it's all him.

Y'all can give Reich all the credit if you want to. This is a collaboration. Don't downplay Fitterer or Dan Morgan.

Fitterer and Morgan get credit for hiring Reich, but head coaches assemble their own staff.

There are one or two connections from their Seattle days but those could just as easily be coincidental or just guys Reich asked about.

Best i memeber, there were 3 coaches already hired by Indy with full intentions than josh mcdaniels was going to be HC. It was a good rebuttel about wilks not hiring staff and having "sucess"....... frank did too... in a smaller way.

Some impressive names, though. He seems to be able to identify good coaches.

What does that mean? He worked for two years with the Giants where Fassel was the coach before and after Fitterer was a scout there. He then went to Seattle where Carroll was the coach before he got there and guess what Carroll is still the coach in Seattle. Feel free to tell me what he knows about staff building and hiring coaches.

I said he was obviously part of why Reich got hired but the “driving force” behind the rest of the staff? There are lots of connections with Reich and the coaches or coaches Reich hired. Show me a connection between any coach and Fitterer.

It’s amazing the hoops people go through to make sure our current guys are lauded. What does it matter that Reich gets credit for his staff? Isn’t that what he’s supposed to do?

I like the staff so far and Reich clearly was prepared to hire a staff and that impressed us more than Wilks. We didn’t all of a sudden tell Reich who to hire on his staff that had connections to him.

Again, why do you want to say Fitterer did the staff building when he’s never done anything like that before?

Who said that he was the "driving force" behind the rest of the staff? I said and have said that this entire process has been a collaboration. I said that he was a driving force for the hiring of Frank Reich. You must ask yourself why you are so invested in not giving Fitterer (or Morgan for that matter) any credit. It's a collaborative effort. Campen and Tabor just didn't land in Carolina by accident. Reich likely is a driving force, or the driving force behind his coaching staff, but that doesn't mean that the GM who is now a real GM, especially one that lauds collaboration and is not ego-driven, much like the coach that is in his charge, doesn't deserve credit for any names that he has dropped, research that he has done, or calls that he has made. We simply don't know any specifics and can only speculate, but we don't have to speculate as to it being a collaborative effort because we've been told that it is. And honestly, neither Reich, Fitterer, Morgan or even Tepper have given us reason to believe they are liars.
