Smith would warm up with this person at the back, and they would be talking the entire time--Every time I went to see them.  I was so close, I could almost hear them, but you could tell from facial expressions that they liked each other.

The other player? John Kasay.

Kasay was instrumental in keeping Smith on the team after Anthony Bright. Oh also him getting pulled over with pills that weren't his but I think I'm the only person that remembers that happening.

This interview was shared a few weeks ago. Idk if this a new clip or it was just missed, but Steve squashes the myth that he was suddenly dropped by the Panthers. Says he asked for a release and even talked to other GMs.

Ummm...

Then what was "blood and guts because of the way they just dropped me like that" all about? I love Steve Smith but damn if that didn't cast a shadow over the entire team for a period of time because of the poo that he said happened.

If you're the only person that remembers, it never happened.

I'm also 31 so I'm guessing I would've been early teens when that happened. Not something I would've paid attention to.

He made Delhomme look better I hate to say it

Didn't need accuracy when your #1 WR was going to mug the DB and jump 10 feet over his head to catch it no matter where it was

No matter what he did ,who he could have helped etc,  his walk off TD against the greatest show on turf will forever ever live in my fondest memories

I used to go watch a few OTAs each year and I noticed that players tend to hang around their buddies when possible during the moments when they could.  They'd warm up together, for example.  Smitty did not seem to have any personal relationships with teammates---except 1, and to me, it was the last person you'd expect.

He was close with Jake Delhomme as I recall.
