Not a given at all. Based on contracts it is a lot more likely that Jake will be here instead of Moore. Unless he shows he can be the starter, he will be like Weinke. Given a few games to prove himself or otherwise discarded for someone else.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if Moore left if John Fox is still here. I doubt he gets another chance next year.

The point of training camp and the preseason is to sort out the starters. He wouldn't be the first or last quarterback to have a bad year and bounce back the next. And he might never gain his pre-injury form. Hard to say but it surely isn't a lock that he has played his last for the Panthers or for some other team.

Im pulling for Moore to be the future. If he can develop into a starting QB I would feel better about trading away our 1st round pick considering we might have used on a QB anyways.

The only FA option (albiet an RFA) that is a definite improvement over Moore and would be capable of producing immediately is Troy Smith. The draft options are much bleaker considering the supposed great QB class of 09 is looking to be rather mediocre. I don't think there is a single QB available to us who could start next year and I still don't trust our current coaching staff to be able to develop a QB.

Smiths going to be a good one. I would like him but if we do get him we have got to put in some more bootlegs to get him out in space to have better field vision. I think we need more for Moore (never gets old) as well. He has decent mobility. Get him out in space it will allow him to see the field better.

I do not agree. Although he cannot be depended on so far for the rest of this season he is still better than Delhomme. Every QB has to go through the growing pains and to get adjusted to the spedd and reactions of the recievers. I think Matt Moore will improve next season and could be a hell of a QB. Look at what he did against Dallas 2 years ago with virtually no play in that season.
