Matt Moore is the future...

Then by all means Nostradamus, I am obviously missing something. Tell me who would be better and how would we acquire this said "better quarterback"?

Surely, you aren't serious. I am not going to humor you by putting in the effort to type up the list, but just about every QB that will be a free agent next year can be argued to have more upside than "Moore" upside.

Moore looked like an average back-up QB that thankfully didn't have to throw any more than he did thanks to Stewart and the defense.

the 2010 NFL draft and free-agency would be a start

The only FA option (albiet an RFA) that is a definite improvement over Moore and would be capable of producing immediately is Troy Smith. The draft options are much bleaker considering the supposed great QB class of 09 is looking to be rather mediocre. I don't think there is a single QB available to us who could start next year and I still don't trust our current coaching staff to be able to develop a QB.

Jake has been starting because it is so difficult to find ANY QB that can consistently win games. The draft isn't a guarantee. Neither is experience. Fox can only go off what he has observed, in his time here. Finding even an AVERAGE QB isn't easy. Meaning, one who won't lose you games. Jake was that in the past. So, I can somewhat see Fox sticking with him. I'm not defending Jake. He has been terrible since the Arizona game. But, Philly B is right - Jake was only average. And Moore couldn't beat him out to be the #1.

I never thought that I'd say it, but JC and T-Jax would be better options, among others.

You really can't say with any credibility, when looking at any draft, that the draft options are mediocre, because there's nearly always someone that comes out and plays beyond expectations like a Brady, Flacco, or even Orton.

Basically, If Moore is our best option then our modicum of hope is realistically infinitesimal.

JC is going to take years of work in one system to really see any of his potential, and TJack is just bad. I'd give them a shot but realistically speaking I couldn't expect much out of either of them.

The problem is that the reason why late-round QBs who are successful stand out is because so rarely do late-round QBs ever amount to anything. Other than Tom Brady and Drew Brees, every elite QB in the NFL currently was taken within the first round of the draft, typically within the first 10-15 picks.

Matt Moore just played his first meaningful NFL game since 2007, I'm willing to give him some slack and wait to see what he does the rest of the year before I start losing hope.

I thought Moore played Panther football today, run the ball and no turnovers.(OK he had one) They played bend but dont break defense.ran the ball. and took some shots downfield. They did win the game and the team played with a purpose. If I'm coaching this team, I start Moore and see what he can do. Something "Shakey Jake" will never have a chance to do, WIN. Jake is done, good-bye!

so what would you guys say if your draft rookie savior came in and had a couple of games like this? we we still need to draft some one else after that? There are many guys who can throw 80 yard bombs but cant play qb. throwing perfect throws is not a prerequisite to being a nfl qb. even manning, brady and breesus throw some off passes. why do you expect matt moore to come out like gangbusters?

The thing we should be looking for is improvement! a steady improvement with game experience against tough teams. if we drafted a rookie the same approach would be used with him. i still think we should draft a qb next year, but having matt moore do good makes it less of a priority.

Let me see if i have this correct. you guys dont want matt moore to do good, so we can draft another qb and root for him to do good? is that about right?

Haha, that about sums it up.

And just so you guys know, just because you draft a QB in the first round, that doesn't automatically make that person Peyton Manning. Just ask:

Akili Smith

Tim Couch

Cade Mcnown

Jeff George

Kyle Boller

Brady Quinn

JaMarcus Russell

And it also doesn't mean that player will be good right away:

Alex Smith

Vince Young

Matt Lienart

In fact even the great first round picks of the last few years aren't exactly lighting it up right now:

Jay Cutler

Mark Sanchez

Matt Ryan

I can understand people around here not being happy with Jake Delhomme's Performance. But up to recent standards the only QBs who could play in Carolina would Drew Brees and Peyton Manning.

Well hey at least Moore looks better than Freeman.

You mean in terms of not having much INT. than him? :P

He still need to throw more though, 'cause Freeman look better with throwing than him. 160 yards with 1 INT. & no TDs is something Moore need to fix if he want to be a starter here.
