Matt Moore is the future...

LOL. Maybe you missed the Jets game last week when Delhomme underthrew Smith by 10 yards on a deep route when he was wide open. THAT is horrible throw. Moore's pass to Smith was not a horrible throw. It wasn't perfect because Smith had to slightly adjust his route (not 10 feet or whatever you say). Still, it hit him in stride and was far enough away from the safety that it was never in danger of being intercepted and could only be caught by Smith. I'd say that's a decent pass.

lol maybe you missed the previous posts where i said delhomme would've been no better and that i support moore as the starting QB for the rest of the 2009 season... lol

Part of what makes a quality receiver is the ability to react to a ball while it's in the air. Moore delivered the ball as close to where Smith was running as he could - and it was more accurate than what most could toss in this league I bet. Smith was able to adjust to the ball in mid air quite easily (and he didn't have to go ten feet to his left, more like 3) because it didn't require him to vastly change his route, stop, backpedal, anything. He barely slowed, and he caught it while still in stride enough to take it a few extra yards.

You and I just view the play differently. I see it as a nice deep pass that was put in a spot the receiver could easily adjust to. You see it as a terrible throw that was put some place that forced an adjustment. I guess the difference is that I don't consider the adjustment to be indicative of a terrible throw.

EDIT: About Smith, I think that he was fired up because he knows that Jake just can't hit that ball anymore - his accuracy is too far off. Moore is his best shot to get back into this offense in a major way and he knows it. Smith does care about his stats, but I think he wants to feel like he's making a difference. That play is really what put the game away.

i don't entirely disagree. again, compared to Jake's accuracy, that pass was gold (and Smitty definitely fed off of it.) but it was still pretty bad, and a team that's more talented than 1-11 would almost certainly have made Moore pay for some of his errant throws.

Is it so hard to admit that we don't know about Matt Moore's future yet? It's like people want to get their predictions in so they can claim they told us first. Nobody will care that you said it first, trust me. We have to wait and see either way.

i agree with what this man has stated.

WTF I just watched that long pass from Moore and holy frieken crap you exaggerate like crazy.. That pass as good as you could ask for. In front of the defenders, catchable, Smith's adjustment was like 2 yards. STop making up crap because you don't like Moore. He didn't have a great game, but for his first start in 2 years and only the 4th in his career, that was pretty darn good.

Incredible!

Some people are actually trying to insinuate that Moore had a good game.

Moore was decidedly average. The only reason that he is being given the benefit of all kinds of doubt is that we won.

Like I said in another post, I am not going to let myself be fooled by smoke and mirrors. Moore is not going to be able to hide behind the outstanding play of Stewart (and Williams). He threw several passes that were off the mark, but was bailed out by our receivers. He DID NOT hit Smitty in stride. If he had, Smitty would have scored. That was a lame duck that turned out alright because of very bad coverage by the Bucs' backfield.

Moore is going to have to do more to prove that he is worthy of starting in the NFL. Today was by no means an outstanding performance. If anything, it just goes to show why we need to acquire a quality QB. So far, Moore is just more of the same QB play as we've had for the last three years.

Moore needs some time to play with these receivers and get comfortable with the game. I thought Smitty was open on a few plays but the ball went somewhere else. Also, the pass protection was not the best. Moore did a good job avoiding a sack a couple of times.

And on the pass to Smitty...he put it where Smitty could catch it and where the defenders were not. What else could you want?

Before the game Smitty was interviewed. He was asked if Moore would give the team a lift...he declined to answer that. He did say that no matter how much a player practices, he learns more from the mistakes he makes in a game. He said he hoped that Moore's mistakes would have a minimal effect on the game and he can use them to improve.

Now we will see if Moore is a quick learner.

You missed the email? Well it said that whomever gets their predictions right wins ONE MILLION DOLLAS. :)

Fwiw, Matt Moore will be starting next week, so he is the future. :)

Statistically Moore's performance was average but completing 70% of his passes and only one really bad throw all game is good enough for me. He really didn't have much of a chance to show what he was capable of though, Fox made it pretty clear he didn't want Moore throwing any more than he had to.
