Yeah, I supported Gettleman while he was here but that Norman fiasco soured me big time. The further we were removed from Gettleman and watching him do the same things in NY forced me to admit that firing him was the right call even if it was for all the wrong reasons. Those wrong reasons being bringing Hurney back to ink career achievement contracts for JR's favorite aging vets. It's ironic that Gettleman got himself fired for losing a dick measuring contest where he was actually absolutely right.

Yep!! I didn’t understand Gettelmen ego and why he let it make the moves he did.. Gross negotiation, thinking he could replace 2 whole positions groups in 1 offseason.. making  moves that voided you having back to back winning seasons.. I just didn’t get why Gettelmen couldn’t live in success..

I just don't think he had any actual big picture vision. He just focused on "winning" each individual dick measuring contest.

I think it does.  You sign Carr, then you need to use those resources on aiding him.  Not drafting a QB.  Because while a low end version of it....he is a plug in and try to win QB.

I don't get the Carr and draft a talented rookie QB narrative working together.

Breathing room to get the rookie pick right? We have been waiting since Cam got hurt.   This franchise has had nothing but time and room.  There is no perfect storm you can keep waiting on.

Agree

Carr is going to cost a lot of money

is he worth it, hard to say…I think McDaniels is franchise killer and Carr was treated not well

but Carr is serviceable.  So was Bridgewater.  So was fill in the blank

I'm Pretty tired of wounded, underproducing QBs,  other teams cast offs

it’s time for the Panthers to go big   Go get Stroud  whatever it takes

just freakin do it

the GM has said over and over again ‘desired position is to draft and grow a qb’

with this coaching staff of supposed ‘teachers’, the time is now

if not now, when?

Yes do what you have to and get the guy.. Everything else seem to workout when you get your guy..

With a superstar (presumed) coaching team in place, can they make it work with what we have in QBs? Use the draft capital to strengthen around them?

Andy Reid is a great coach but he still needs Mahomes.. You can be a great coach but you still need the talent and we don’t have that on this roster..

Oh, now you're suggesting that Hondo doesn't know the Raiders? That's bullshit and you know it. Are you suggesting that Rapp Sheet doesn't know what he's talking about either? Come on, dude. Plaschke got it wrong, and anyone paying attention knows it.

And, at the same time you are suggesting SI, the LA Times, and several others don't know what they are talking about.  So, pick your poison.

Mark Davis is one of the least wealthy owners in the NFL, he is paying Gruden to sit on the sidelines, and would then be paying McDiptstick to join him.  Nobody knows for sure what these two contracts equate to, but Gruden was reported to be around $10M a year and McDiptstick was making $4M a year as the OC for the Pats and reported to be making "substantially more" to go to the Raiders.

So, the guy who is somewhere between the 29th and 32nd richest owner (including the Packers who are technically owned by no one in particular), could be paying out $18-$20M a year for guys no longer coaching plus, say, another $5M to whoever would be.

But, the problem is not simply overall wealth (which for Davis may look big to us, even though he is relatively low on the NFL totem pole), but cash flow.  How much of his non-liquid wealth is he willing to convert to liquid wealth in order to get rid of yet another coach he should not have hired in the first place?

It saved Davis money to let Carr go, while at the same time it would cost a bundle to let the HC go.  Even if he winds up paying the same money he would have paid Carr to others on the roster, it is still neutral.

Given McDipstick's history and antics as a HC, anybody suggesting having him in that position creates stability is fooling themselves.

But, believe what and who you will.

Stroud is a Fields clone??? Really? That’s like comparing Tua and Hurts because they played at the same school. They are two completely different players. Stroud can become anywhere from Goff to Burrow (who our new QB coach has already compared him to). You would be better off comparing AR to Fields.

No Levis and AR aren’t ready to start week 1 unless we just want them to take their lumps like Buffalo did with Allen. That’s actually the norm for rookie QBs. Week 1 starters that look solid are extremely rare. It’s another reason why waiting another year isn’t the best idea. You are typically 2 plus years away from great QB play when you draft one.

Ok, we are just going to disagree on this.  I ain't changing your mind and you certainly aren't changing mine.  Again, the urgency of this fan base is shading the glasses of this QB class more and more rosy.  The Burrow comparison did elicit a chuckle, I must confess.

So, you would have been a ‘no retreads’ with Delhomme?

Reality check.. Delhome wasn’t a retread.. He was a never was.. He wasn’t a starting QB for any NFL team giving a chance before Carolina.. He was the 3rd stringer on the Saints who they got from NFL Europe.. Retreads are guys who have been giving opportunities and teams have actually tried to build teams around them.. That wasn’t Delhome..

All I can tell you is that Rappaport knows his stuff, and he hasn't given me any reason not to believe that he does not.

A man who is broke (but estimated to be worth $500 mil) doesn't buy WNBA franchises or ultra-expensive mansions. Like Rapp Sheet said, it's about the belifef that McDaniels and the GM can right the ship. And, like it or not, part of righting the ship is dumping Carr.

So you good with Brissett or Minshew?

I'd rather have Minshew than Carr straight-up. Minshew is younger, arguably a better passer, and won't cost an arm and a leg. Similar results for a fraction of the price!

    • I have no clue how much he will be on the field. I hope he plays well and doesn't get injured. Keep in mind that rookie rbs are typically hampered by struggling a bit with pass protection assignments. It seems it is a bit more of an adjustment from the college game.
