I wasn't too impressed with Steichen's play calling

We went 15-1 once. Philly needs to prove they can be elite longer than just one season before we crown Steichen the next coming of Reid/Payton.

This is the summary.

Thats why I said, "hate to bet against big red" when i thought eagles would win a close game. The other coach was crying at the start and big red was reviewing his IHOP menus already in game mode.

Well you're welcome to feel that way but their coaching has been in another league compared to what we've seen from our team the last few years. The fumble touchdown and big punt return changed the game.

Let him be a simpleton. He thinks because Hurts has a similar game to Cam Newton he's going to be a one hit wonder. As long as the Eagles retain the core of their team they are going to remain a problem in the conference. If we stop being scared and make a move in the draft for our QB we could be competing with them.

Word is they may have some trouble retaining that core.  Lots are free agents and then there is the cap.

This is all true and he definitely deserves credit, but they also have a loaded roster. It really helps having a QB on a rookie deal.

They led KC for most of the night and came pretty damn close to beating them.

Keeping up with Reid when he's at his best is not an easy thing.

Well you can't keep everybody but we'll find out how they make it work. The NFC is still mostly wide open and when you consider the state of our division we could even be in the thick of things with the right moves. Look at the strides the Giants made with a fairly minimal roster. First things first we need to hit on a QB of our own and we'll be cooking.

Ahhhh I remember when 90% of the huddle shat on me for wanting Reid after leaving Philly because he was the main reason Mcnabb couldn’t get it done. Good times.

I thought Steichen did rely too much on the runs between the tackles. They weren't effective. The running backs seemed more productive when they attacked the edges of the defense.  Then again he may have abandoned the run game because he didn't feel it was going to be effective that day.

If you subtract Jalen's carries, the RB stat line for the team was 17 carries/45 Yards...less than 3 yards per carry. If you took away Patrick's carries the Chiefs stat line was 20 carries/114 yards...that's 5.7 yards per carry. A more effective running game in the 2nd half would have controlled the clock, kept Mahomes on the bench, and give the defense some time to rest. The lack of the running game and the Eagles inability to really pressure Mahomes (the y didn't record 1 sack) were the biggest surprises for me last night.

 

Yeah, the Eagles' run game was beyond disappointing, but perhaps it was more about KC's underrated defense and Spagnuolo than Steichen's play calling. @t96 , are you still downplaying Pacheco's talent? He outdid all the RBs of the Eagles by himself. It was great scouting by the KC.

On an off note, I bet the Eagles had wished they'd have had Kadarius Toney last night. The Chiefs know how to put a team together---make acquisitions that will get them where they want to go as well as anybody. Either that, and/or Reid and Bienemy just know how to use players better than anyone else.

We were 12-4 and took Prime Patriots down to the wire also 

I don't want an offense that can almost win, we have had that, I want an offense that can actually win the superbowl

No more moral victories and happy to be there , it's victory or nothing!!!!!

Yeah, I agree. I just think that Philly could have switched it up a little more on offense. They kept calling passes in the flat on the edge from one side to another, and inexplicably called at least a couple of run plays on what was essentially 3rd and long when they hadn't had success running the ball all night long. He acted like he was determined to do things that had worked all season and the first half of the game (passing-wise), but it wasn't working during the second half. 

My problem is that they had KC on the ropes, but basically let them slip away and get the K.O. Siriani and Steichen got out-coached and sucker punched during crunch time.

The big difference for me was that the Chiefs players were schemed wide open over and over, Eagles depended on Hurts being ridiculously good (and wow was he good). Not sure the success at Philly will translate when coaches move to another team without a stacked offense across the board.
