Ah okay.

Tampa is now a trash team we faced...with one of (if not, the) Greatest QBs in NFL History.

Yes, Tampa Bay was NOT a good TEAM in 2022.  Hence the losing record they had despite having a very easy schedule.

supporting or creating a narrative? Didn't you follow Sam Darnold here from NY? The guy still rocking the Sam drawing in his avatar?

Panthers fans have bitched about every QB. Actually they bitched the loudest about the only MVP in franchise history. What has Darnold accomplished with two teams now? Why does he have such a following? Why so many chances? Other QB's have been long given up on by now.

He'll be 30 and his fanclub will still be saying "but wait...this is the year it's all going to click!"

Go Crazy Wtf GIF

Are you one of them?

I am waiting for the day you actually go nuclear on a QB (aside from Darnold, that is).   😉

That avatar is there as a form of mockery (it will be there looong after he is gone) but keep on deflecting and making it about me.  👍

So....again, what do you call a team with a losing record that played a very easy schedule?  And they were really trash at end of the season.

2nd half of the season after the bye week any good team beat Tampa by double digits.  And bad teams like the Browns, Falcons, etc. could even take them.   Which is the window we are discussing.

You skipped over all that.   What's your issue with calling Tampa what it was in the context of the game being discussed?  Trash.

Macadoo went pass happy against the Bucs, putting alot of pressure on Sam, and he played well enough to win, our defense prevents any of those Mike Evans home runs and he is a playoff QB

He is definitely not the long term solution, but could provide stability at the most important position in football untill we find our next Cam

If you want to win in this league and more importantly go to and win in the postseason you have to have a potent passing attack. If we have a QB who can't even do that we don't have a starting QB plain and simple.

I still wonder if the issue between his ears can be resolved now that we have an actual offensive minded coach. Gase and Rhule were both complete ass and 2 of the worst HCs he could have had. I've said before sometimes guys just process learning differently (I'm in that boat) and that may be the case or it may not. As a vet backup, he's worth the cost to bring him back depending on our options. Maybe he could develop under someone who's not completely incompetent. Either way, don't care.

According to Reich a qb has to be able to make 10 big time throws per game. Dumpoffs do not count. They have to be able to hit the target at every level. That should narrow the field a bit.

So he had a bad game that we won. Truth is he went 4-2 and managed the game well. He made throws and moved the chains. Even with the Saints game he averaged scoring 24 points a game during that stretch which was above the NFL average. And that was coming off IR playing for McAdoo. His quarterback rating was 92 with a couple of games over 100. He was more than serviceable and had Horne played in the Tampa game he would have taken us to the playoffs. You can dislike him all you want but his play was not the problem at the end of the year.  Should be interesting to see what Reich thinks about him.

I hear ya, BUT... If we went all in on Darnold (again) I would always be waiting for him to screw up. Like he has season after season. He is not consistent enough to be a full time starter. Now, signing him as a backup, on a team friendly deal, is something I could get behind.

True.

Although something tells me I don't think he'd mind it if it were less than that so long as it led to a win.

'Cause let's be honest :  Big time throws or not, it's the end result of the game that matters.

I mean...A QB can make 10 big time throws per game and still lose those games, you know?  🧐

Especially if the Defense craps the bed....grrrrrr..  (and yeah..I'm thinking of the Tampa game 1000% here in this regard)

And btw, dumpoffs shouldn't count but they shouldn't be ignored either as they can help move the chains to keep the offense on the field, and also help march the team methodically down the field to where a scoring opportunity would present itself.

Well if they don't pursue a QB, there will be a ton of pissed off Huddlers here.

We need to get started SOMEWHERE as far as going after a Franchise QB.

And the only place to potentially find one is in the Draft, not Free Agency or the Scrap Heap.

Thats certainly not true, well with this draft anyways.

They will not settle for less unless they absolutely have to for the time being.  The starter will have to satisfy all those criteria to stay the starting qb for the Panthers.
