Carr exploring options

The thing with the Saints is that they are in win now mode. They have the receivers, offensive line, and defense to make a run. Their problem is that they have Dennis Allen as a head coach. It doesn't matter who the QB is as long as he's running that team and I relish in that reality.

I like Carr personally. He's an enthusiastic dude who truly loves football and the people he plays with. His passion, outwardly, is unmatched by any QB in the game right now. He has some deficiencies but we saw his potential with Gruden and if the Saints can tap into that they have an opportunity to be really proehlific on offense.

okay, they win the division and go nowhere in the playoffs.  Meanwhile the rest of the division is getting younger and flush with cap money.  Again, this idea that they are contenders is crazy.  The only thing I can think of is they are letting these key defensive players in their prime play out their deals while keeping them in the thick of things.  They are trying their best to retool on the fly, but I don't see it working.

Yeah Cam Jordan is getting old, Kamara is not the same threat, they keep lucking out on WR's with Olave but otherwise they aren't a team anyone is scared of playing anymore. Especially since they are committed to letting Dennis Allen run the show apparently lol.

I am not worried about the Saints with Allen as the coach. They only become a worry if they get a legit head coach.

Make no mistake, they are still talented and their drafting has been pretty successful. I am not predicting they will stink until I see their drafting start tanking.

Just depends on how long you can kick the can, and how much the cap goes up with the new TV deals.

End of the day, you still have to put butts in seats.

As far as pushing their money out several years, if you are talking about restructuring, the players get their money upfront. It becomes bonus instead of salary. Bonus can applied to future years cap over the entire length of the contract. Players aren't ever turning down being paid in advance.

Stick with what you have unless you are getting a bonafide stud via trade.  Otherwise look to get a blue chip QB prospect in the draft.  If for some reason you are unable to get one, go with what you have and look forward to 2024.

Stop throwing money at stopgaps.  I want a franchise QB or I want to work on building a great team.  I like Carr actually and wouldn't be mad if we signed him. Way better than Darnold, Bridgewater, Mayfield, etc. But I don't know if it would be the most ideal scenario.

If Carr makes it to free agency don't be surprised if we are in talks with him.  As I have posted before.  Reich one three separate occasions tried to get Carr in Indy.   I wouldn't be surprised if we made an offer.

Whatever.

They will 100% cut him.  I'd be shocked if any team traded for him knowing how likely it is for him to be cut, unless they truly felt there was no way Carr would sign with them and wanted to secure his services. But while I like Carr, he isn't that good to be that desperate.
