From what I recall, Ron wanted to run a hybrid 4-3, 3-4 defense but that never really happened. It was basically 4-3 with a few sprinkles of 3-4, but Burns was always lined up as a 4-3 DE.

Burns was standing strong most of the time in 3-3-5 and 4-2-5s the past 3 years for Snow which is already pretty close.  Played some variations in sub-packages for Rivera.  Shouldn't be a big curve for him.

I was pretty convinced that switch was just words to appease an owner who was asking what they were going to do about a failing defense.  Armed with no answers, he trotted out what he thought the owner wanted to hear.

Yeah it was a mixture. They would show some 3-4 fronts and walk the Buck down in the 5 technique or bump him out on a TE shade.

Burns/Irvin rotated the Buck and Addison played Anchor I believe.
