IDC about the big10 championship. The conference is weak overall. There's no real competition to OSU other than Michigan. Who finally got it done this year.

The reason Fields slid in the draft was due to his struggles against good defenses.

Stroud had one of his best games against a Juggernaut team in UGA.

I'd take Stroud over Fields 10/10.

And Fields had his biggest game against a Clemson team and won it. And played hurt. I want Stroud but I’d take Fields over him.

I’ll say this: much of my criticism at this point is that they had ideal situations to play in.

Our offensive line is solid and we kept our oline coach.

If we add a TE (or develop one), perhaps another back and receiver in the draft…

…and our defense has talent.

One of these quarterbacks could hit the ground running in an ideal situation.

With Reich and this roster, it may be as smooth as it could get for a young QB beginning his career.

as much as this team is maligned around here by some, this team is probably a TE or two short of being an ideal situation for a new QB to step into.

with reich and an up and coming QB, there's no reason that we can't hit the playoffs in year 1. i really appreciated him talking about how if you are doing things right you should be having a quick success. no doubt that was a big part of the conversations he had with tepper and fitt after having to deal with rhule's poo.

What about Burrow tearing his ACL his rookie year, Herbert getting injured early this year, Corral couldn't even make it past preseason.  MAYBE it's a physical sport and a lot of young QBs will go down with injuries at some point.

Running the football on a regular basis increases the odds that a quarterback will get hurt. There is no guarantee than any player in football will not get hurt.

Also, sure let's get that Robbie Anderson contract worked out.

This seems like you're implying that they shouldn't trade up for a QB, but this was not your initial assertion, which was that you don't think they would trade up. Feels like a pivot on your part to bring up Robbie as a slight on Fitt's decision making.

I think most injuries happen inside the pocket.  There is a correlation where franchises with running QBs don't build OL like they should because their QB can bail them out.  That's what happened with Cam and is currently happening with Fields (hopefully they correct this).  Cam rarely got hurt running the ball.  Getting drilled in the shoulder while trying to throw the ball is a completely different hit.

In his defense, it worked out pretty well. I don’t want a guy to go through a progression just for the sake of going through a progression. If the first read is open be decisive and get the ball out quick. It can be looked at positively in that way. We know if we can scheme his first read open that he will get it there. I don’t think it necessarily means he won’t look to his second and third reads if the first read isn’t there, that’s something for scouting to look at for sure.

It has worked out well for every OSU QB in college.
