The NFL is Rigged

If I'm a Bengals fan today, I'm LIVID. This was the same ref crew that flagged Logan Wilson in the super bowl last year on the phantom pi on 3rd and goal with 1:40 left in the game at the 8 yard line

But this is just what the NFL is. They are an entertainment business who's only obligation to fans is to provide a football presentation, why is why after every game they state "this has been a presentation of the National Football League". The Refs work for the league and officiate as they are told.

I don't remember anyone saying commercials don't matter to advertisers, but you said people watch FOR commercials.  You are twisting words now to make your point.  I think far less watch for commercials now since you can just watch before hand.  Keep your head in the sand, it's all good.

Yes, there are millions of people who watch the Super Bowl for the commercials.  Literally all you have to do is google "who watches the Super Bowl for the commercials."  And almost every site will quote you at minimum 25%.

But again, keep insulting me if that makes you feel better.  The true mark of a conspiracy believer.

The funniest thing about "sports is rigged" is that if you don't agree it is rigged, it is you who is made out to be the delusional one lol

You can keep using the word rigged but only people like you are focusing on that.  Influence is the best term and it doesn't always work.  Also commercials watched for Super Bowl, specific to DURING game or numbers of ads watched leading up to it that are marked "for Super Bowl".  I'm not saying people aren't watching the Super Bowl for commercials at all, just less than 20 years (not on a pure numbers standpoint but percentage I'd say).   But it only pushes the point home that a face like Mahomes who has a commercial at every NFL ad break is someone the NFL wants in big games.  Brady is almost gone, they lost Manning a while ago, and Mahomes is now the face of the NFL.

They have 2 weeks of storytelling ahead.    That's what they do.

and yeah, my wife would love to hear about mama Kelce and seeing her and his split homemade jersey and all that bullshit.   That's frankly the only thing she would be interested.   Not the game.   She heard about Joe Burrow last year.

NFL doesn't' give a poo what the hardcore Panther fans preference is.  You watch the NFL regardless.  You were watching last night.

Sports have always been influenced by the powers that be.  It's about money.   That's why we have the NFL.

So because your wife heard of Kelce, from you, that proves the NFL is rigged? And is she listening to his podcast or watching the game? Is the NFL rigging games for podcast clicks? What storyline is going to make a person who isn’t watching the game as of today, suddenly want to watch? And why not last year if it is this year?

Fans have complained about the “fix” for my entire life. Yet not one shred of proof in my 52 years. I’m sure every person ever involved in this rigging has kept silent.

The thread is literally titled "The NFL is Rigged" LMFAO but yes "only people like me" are focused on that.

You are the one who responded to me first, not the other way around.  My post was talking about the NFL not being rigged.  You responded as if you didn't agree.  So I'm gonna assume you also think the NFL is rigged.  If you don't think it is rigged, then just say that and we can go on our way.

I don't know, for proof, maybe the reports of 20+ missed calls in the Panther/Denver SB that went Denver's way?  The late hits in that game on Cam, helmet to helmets, battled fumble, etc?  I think that is the game where it was pretty obvious something was up.  Then just watch around the league.  If it isn't influenced, then the league is OK with bad refs year to year and muddied rules, for some reason, which also makes the game product pretty terrible.

Influencing is rigging. Doing something intentionally, for a certain outcome, is rigging.

I guess Mahomes wasn’t “face” enough last year when they let a 2nd year QB take his place. Were they “viewers” absent then?

Well for the 10th time, I think it is heavily influenced by the head ref.  I think rigged would include a broader range of folks which I don't really think is happening because too many things could leak.  These things really became apparent around the time Goodell took over and maybe shortly before.  The NFL was not like this in the 90's or before.

Try reading.  I said I do not believe influencing always works.  I think they are good at it, but I do believe a team can still win despite that, it is just much harder to do obviously.  But the NFL also really likes Burrow aka "Joe Cool" and they need more than one face.

So what would be an example of influencing and rigging? Where is that line?

I said sports is influenced.   I don't use the word rigged.   Influencing doesn't guarantee outcomes.  And yeah, sports in general has been influenced for a long time.  Not just football.

No proof of what? There certainly is proof professional sports has been influenced by actors aiming to alter the outcome.

I mean, it is pretty well documented that every season.......millions watch the Super Bowl all over the globe that haven't been watching games this season.   And it's not just commercials, especially in 2023 that are drawing them in.    The Super Bowl isn't for the hardcore fan.  It's an annual event and they get ears and eyeballs at their disposal they normally don't have paying attention.  And they want to make money of those.   So yeah, they probably give a poo more about my wife than me.  Because my intake of sports content is consistent.  Hers isn't.
