The NFL is Rigged

I don’t think it’s scripted or anything crazy like that. I’ve seen people suggest players know and that’s absurd

I do think there are times the refs are told to try and make a certain outcome happen though. There is way too much money involved in all of this with gambling, TV, etc to leave everything entirely up to chance

Fight me. This is an entertainment program. This isn't competitive sports. To many stories line up to increase the talking points (the Kelce brothers), Mahomes on a Brady chase, the refs making questionable calls in favor of only one direction. You name it, no way so many coincidence. It all just seems odd to me.

I could be wrong. But in a sports betting world, how does the house know where to bet. It's only when they know the odds, or control the deck.

All just seems to scripted to me. I literally could've guessed the outcome of this game after the first quarter.

Thirty years ago I would have called you an idiot, today I can't say that you are an idiot. Too many breaks and calls that favor the establishment favorite. It's not a good look.

Once again, how can I argue against this?  You are arguing something that doesn't require any kind of factual knowledge.  You probably don't even know what would need to happen for Goodell to call down to the head referee and make that call, and you are assuming the head referee would comply would something that would get him sent to prison if it were exposed to have happened.

So again, my point is proven. It is impossible to argue against someone who thinks the NFL is rigged.  Because they will ALWAYS have something to point to.  How can I argue against your conjecture that Goodell called the referee to change the result of a play?

The same can be said about people that are so deep in their fandom they can't entertain any idea that maybe their favorite past time isn't as clean as they think.  You have a league that keeps bad refs, year after year, and sometimes even promoting or letting them handle big games.  For what reason?  A league that makes game rules more muddy each year so the refs can make more and more "judgement" calls?  Multiple times in both games the announcers didn't even know what to say when bad calls were made when refs were literally staring at the play lol.   Why would the NFL want the Chiefs?  I don't know.... maybe the Mahomes commercials every 15 minutes comes into play.

There is just a lot, and I mean, a lot of smoke that usually leads to a fire.  I think there is just a lot of stuff that happens since Goodell took over that is just too coincidental for a lot of fans' tastes.  I also don't blame people for wanting a favorite hobby to remain as they want to see it.  That's fine too.

LOL if you want but you can watch the commercials here in a few days.  All of them.  It's not 1995 anymore.

I shouldn't be surprised that someone who believes in a conspiracy theory isn't actually interested in facts.  I guess you know more than advertisers?

Reputable sites typically say around 25-30% of viewers watch the Super Bowl with ads being the major reason why.  Just because the commercials don't matter to you, doesn't mean they don't matter to a % that equates to millions of viewers.

Commercials absolutely are important to the Super Bowl game or else advertisers wouldn't spend $5.5 million for a spot... but again, I am sure you know more than advertisers.

If the NFL was rigged, Steelers and Cowboys wouldn't have the Super Bowl drought that they do.  They are the two most popular franchises and would get the highest ratings.

You have to be good enough to get to the big games. The NFL can't whistle your way to victory every game, it can't be that frigging obvious.

And can anyone explain the point of this thread anyway?  Like what did the Chiefs benefit from?

The do-over 3rd down didn't result in anything.  So that leaves the roughing the passer call.  Is anyone here seriously arguing that wasn't roughing the passer?

The missed block in the back on the punt return was bad

The review with the player reaching for the 1st down was bad. You don’t get the spot of the reach when you voluntarily bring the ball back afterwards. It’s not the same as it is down at the goal line

I had no dog in the fight so whatever but this entire season in general has be a disaster officiating wise. A league worth a bajillion dollars if they wanted to get things right they would. At the end of the day it’s entertainment. I really try my best to treat it as such and not anything more

Lol please don't try and spin this as suggesting I am the one not living in reality/facts.

You believe in a conspiracy theory, that is fine.  Just please don't pretend like you are arguing something grounded in reality or dependent on facts.  All I am saying it is impossible to argue against that.  You think continually responding to me and saying more stuff is going to change that?  Literally nothing you are saying can be supported by actual facts, and actual facts is what I deal with.

Has it ever dawned on you that maybe referees make bad calls because humans make errors?

Then those people weren’t watching no matter who plays? Where are they going to hear these storylines? Anyone who watches ESPN, NFL Network or searches for NFL info is a fan that is watching anyhow. But this league that is completely based on every team having the same resources, is rigging games for a couple extra viewers during one game. And why didn’t they put KC in last year? Easily a bigger draw than an unknown Bengals team.

There are commercials ran everywhere for the Super Bowl and in the past things are mentioned.  You don't remember "Harbaugh vs Harbaugh" or instance?  Everyone knew Peyton's last game was against us, etc.  I don't like using the word rig because I don't really think it's some hundred people thing.  Just the head refs influencing decisions.  I also don't think it always works because I think people still can win, it's just much more difficult.

What casual fan even knows Reid’s background? Or even who Jason Kelee is? Why would they care? Casual fans watch for commercials and halftime. Not which teams are there.  But it makes sense to rig a game, only in a certain year, for people who don’t care anyhow. OK…

They have 2 weeks of storytelling ahead.    That's what they do.

and yeah, my wife would love to hear about mama Kelce and seeing her and his split homemade jersey and all that bullshit.   That's frankly the only thing she would be interested.   Not the game.   She heard about Joe Burrow last year.

NFL doesn't' give a poo what the hardcore Panther fans preference is.  You watch the NFL regardless.  You were watching last night.

Sports have always been influenced by the powers that be.  It's about money.   That's why we have the NFL.

I don't remember anyone saying commercials don't matter to advertisers, but you said people watch FOR commercials.  You are twisting words now to make your point.  I think far less watch for commercials now since you can just watch before hand.  Keep your head in the sand, it's all good.

If I'm a Bengals fan today, I'm LIVID. This was the same ref crew that flagged Logan Wilson in the super bowl last year on the phantom pi on 3rd and goal with 1:40 left in the game at the 8 yard line

But this is just what the NFL is. They are an entertainment business who's only obligation to fans is to provide a football presentation, why is why after every game they state "this has been a presentation of the National Football League". The Refs work for the league and officiate as they are told.

Yes, there are millions of people who watch the Super Bowl for the commercials.  Literally all you have to do is google "who watches the Super Bowl for the commercials."  And almost every site will quote you at minimum 25%.

But again, keep insulting me if that makes you feel better.  The true mark of a conspiracy believer.

    • I don't get the Hunter hate. Just imagine his ceiling if he stopped trying to be this 2way freak and focused on one side of the ball
    • 100%.  You have to play the cards that are dealt.  Not the cards you wish were dealt.
    • I'd say its definitely going to be addressed this off-season.  We went into the last draft with a roster of RBs including:  Chubba, Blackshear, and Miles Sanders. We picked Jonathan Brooks in the second and still signed Rashaad Penny afterwards.  Fast forward....One turned into a top 10 back, 1 is injured/out for most if not all the '25 season, 1 retired, 1 will either take a huge paycut or be cut, and the last is a restricted free agent. We brought in Mike Boone as well. Add him to the free agent list also.  We need a physical option.    Which qualifies:  Ashton Jeanty(Boise St): Overall ranked Top 10. Almost 2k yards after contact, 28 tds. Would take our first rounder. My money would be on an NFC East team selecting him. (97.2 PFF run grade) - 121 forced missed tackles.  Omarion Hampton(UNC): Ranked everywhere from 20 - 59 overall. Consensus #2 back after Jeanty. He'll be a second rounder. 1,222 Yards after contact w/ 15 tds.  (90.5 PFF run grade) - 72 forced missed Tackles Kaleb Johnson(Iowa): Ranked from 38 - 69 depending on which media outlet you prefer but generally #3. 2nd/3rd possibly. 1,060 Yards after contact w/ 21 tds.(86.7 PFF run grade)- 66 forced missed tackles Cam Skattebo: Ranked from the 50's - 104. Every mock I do he ends up BPA at some point. 969 Yards after contact w/ 17 tds(92 PFF Run Grade). Probably the best receiving back of the group. 81 forced missed tackles.  If the '24 and '25 draft classes were combined, IMO the rankings would be, in order: Jeanty, Hampton, Brooks, Johnson, Skattebo. I wouldn't take one high but I'd take one for Chubba and Brooks insurance.
