Im glad, we dont need Wilks as our DC, he is not good in that role. Maybe if he wants to stay as DB coach or something, but I would pass altogether.

Yeah Wilks has everything except the actual being good at defense thing down. We gotta rank towards the highest of secondaries to get burned deep despite playing deep zone all the time. Maybe someone will finally use Chinn the right way as well

Frank Reich is a good hire. He faced adversity with the QB position after Andrew Luck did the dirty by retiring on the eve of preseason week 1. Their future looked bright before that juncture and after that it was stop gaps and some reclamation projects. Hopefully Reich gets a better deal here by getting a long term QB to work with.

As for Wilks, I feel for the guy. He did a good job turning this team around as the interim head coach. However, did the ownership and front office believe he could put together the offensive staff to support and develop our next franchise QB? If they did, they would have hired him. They didn’t. So that suggests to me they felt Reich would be better suited to that role.

I see racism has come up again. I don’t think race played a part here. Most interim head coaches don’t get made permanent. The last ones made permanent were Doug Marrone (Jacksonville, took over from Gus Bradley) and Mike Mularkey (Tennessee, took over from Ken Whisenhunt), and aart from one AFC championship game for Marrone, neither had long term success. So was us not hiring Wilks a surprise? Not really. The same probably would have happened for a different interim head coach from the staff.

I hope it works out but I like that we can go get the best guys now. Fingers crossed it works. QB is still the biggest thing we need, although picking the right OC/DC is very important as well.

It wouldn’t surprise me if we went after Gus Bradley to coach the defense if he’s not retained in Indy.

Exactly. Cant be a defensive minded HC when your defenses keep sucking. He blew his chance against Tampa. If he had won that game, he would be our HC.  With playoffs on the line, his defense sucked and he was also part of the reason why we lost.

If you look around the league, frank has effected the NFL somewhat. Recently too, lots of young minds. I think it was the biggest difference between him and wilks- staff. I believe you will approve of his hires, maybe one or two will be ?????? why, no not him(like Brian Baker).....

Bro, this a fact held by many. He just ran into a bad injury deal, but before.......many high IQ footbal that know, had Leonard as the best MLB in all of ball.... He was just like luke and game changing too. I hope the panthers look into a bargain trade for him.

    • I don't get the Hunter hate. Just imagine his ceiling if he stopped trying to be this 2way freak and focused on one side of the ball
    • 100%.  You have to play the cards that are dealt.  Not the cards you wish were dealt.
    • I'd say its definitely going to be addressed this off-season.  We went into the last draft with a roster of RBs including:  Chubba, Blackshear, and Miles Sanders. We picked Jonathan Brooks in the second and still signed Rashaad Penny afterwards.  Fast forward....One turned into a top 10 back, 1 is injured/out for most if not all the '25 season, 1 retired, 1 will either take a huge paycut or be cut, and the last is a restricted free agent. We brought in Mike Boone as well. Add him to the free agent list also.  We need a physical option.    Which qualifies:  Ashton Jeanty(Boise St): Overall ranked Top 10. Almost 2k yards after contact, 28 tds. Would take our first rounder. My money would be on an NFC East team selecting him. (97.2 PFF run grade) - 121 forced missed tackles.  Omarion Hampton(UNC): Ranked everywhere from 20 - 59 overall. Consensus #2 back after Jeanty. He'll be a second rounder. 1,222 Yards after contact w/ 15 tds.  (90.5 PFF run grade) - 72 forced missed Tackles Kaleb Johnson(Iowa): Ranked from 38 - 69 depending on which media outlet you prefer but generally #3. 2nd/3rd possibly. 1,060 Yards after contact w/ 21 tds.(86.7 PFF run grade)- 66 forced missed tackles Cam Skattebo: Ranked from the 50's - 104. Every mock I do he ends up BPA at some point. 969 Yards after contact w/ 17 tds(92 PFF Run Grade). Probably the best receiving back of the group. 81 forced missed tackles.  If the '24 and '25 draft classes were combined, IMO the rankings would be, in order: Jeanty, Hampton, Brooks, Johnson, Skattebo. I wouldn't take one high but I'd take one for Chubba and Brooks insurance.
