Well, we might have to scratch Shane Steichen off the list for the Carolina Panthers.

 

On Wednesday, we learned of the team’s initial intentions for their second round of head coaching interviews. As of now, 2022’s interim head coach Steve Wilks, former Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich and Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore have all been given another look.

But notably absent from that bunch is Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen, who has been viewed as one of the favorites for the job. Maybe this is why . . .

On paper Steichen seems like the next big time head coaching prospect but like many other factors he might just not fit with the people who are in charge of the Panthers right now. Working for Tepper is a tough sell for a coach who might have a lot better options if he is patient.

Important stuff...don't mind the extra thread.  A lot in the other one. Hard to sift through it all.

Many coordinators who interview their first time struggle because the difference in the job and responsibilities is large. He may go elsewhere and certainly these interviews should prepare him for the future. We just want more of a proven entity.

People assume every young, hotshot OC is Sean McVay and that just isn't the case. Not all these guys in their 30's are going to have their ducks in a row immediately.
