Not really, but either way why would you wait?

Do you think they're gonna look back at anyone else's bad interview and say "Ya know, we should give that guy another chance"?

If he doesnt want to come he doesnt want to come.  And earlier I was just taking everyones word that he gave a "bad interview" but the source BA says otherwise

So yeah if he doesnt want to come at all no sense in waiting, might as well hire reich to save face asap

"he was the guy all along yada yada yada"

Who said he failed to impress.  The pantherwire article makes it sounds like SS was like "I'm good"

That's not at all what it reads like? Sounds like you're twisting the words of "didn't go as hoped" into what you want to believe (that he turned Carolina down in his initial interview?) rather than what most people logically concluded (that the interview, maybe on both sides, didn't go well).

Eventually the homer glasses have to come off and some of you will have to accept Carolina isn’t the prized job ur pretending it is. How many players and coaches have to say thanks but no thanks before that sinks in?

You'd have to read into it to think that's what it says.

Bottom Line: The interview didn't go well. The reason why doesn't ultimately matter.

It's not happening.

VIC FANGIOCS, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT
9495.jpg

CBS Sports' Josina Anderson reports the Dolphins interviewed ex-Broncos coach Vic Fangio for their defensive coordinator job.

According to Anderson, Fangio's interview was more than a run-of-the-mill meeting. Anderson noted that the team was expected to discuss terms and conditions with Fangio and that head coach Mike McDaniel "has a strong affinity" for the long-time coach. Fangio served as a defensive consultant for the Eagles this past season after being fired by the Broncos at the end of the 2021 campaign. Still, the 64-year-old coach remains one of the more coveted defensive coordinators on the market, with years of experience and top-ranked defenses lining his resume. In his final two seasons as the Bears defensive coordinator, Fangio's defense ranked ninth and first in points allowed per game.

Not ultimately but its not a good look for tepper if true.  The "thanks but no thanks" now from seemingly multiple guys is most certainly a black eye

If we , from afar, think Tepper is a tool…..imagine what most that sit in front of him think.  Pretty comical that anyone thinks this franchise is a dream job.

There's zero evidence Steichen declined.

There is. however, the fact that no one else is offering him a second interview either.

    • Easily. To be able to plug in a backup LT without much drop off from your starter? That could mean the difference between playoffs or sitting at home in January. Good/serviceable smart young and healthy LTs that won’t lose you a ball game at reasonable $$ don’t just come along every day. Everyone talks about the most important positions on a football team… backup LT is in the top 10.  Picture next year… the team is scrappy and competitive, 4 and 3 record, second place in the South. Morale is good. devastating run game that Let’s our marginal defense get plenty of rest. We play the Bucs and win, going to 5 and 3, but we lose Ickey to a high ankle sprain. Atl loses that week and are now at 5 and 3 as well. There is no Ickey and no BC because we let him go… and we go in to Atl the next week for a battle of first in the south. Week after that is the Jets…. Now they lose both by 10 and 3, respectively, and fall to 5 and 5 going in to their bye week. Atl is at 7 and 3. Out of typical Panthers desperation, they try to rush Ickey back in to the lineup with a saints game coming up…  Back to good old Panthers football, always playing catchup. Another season at .500 and the fans sadly rejoice in mediocrity, when playoffs were in reach. This team always overestimates its ability to pick up quality o line depth in the draft or FA and it always blows up in their faces. Like Chuba, I see him as being part of the core that Dan is trying to build. Work on his contract now and see if we can come out with something mutually beneficial. I’d consider 3 yrs at $25m to be very fair.
    • it would be great to have "double trouble" again, I even had a T- shirt for Williams and Stewart and the double trouble logo, was a great time to be Panthers fan. We shall see...
    • Sounds like a plan. Those are the teams we should be mimicking! lol
