Reich is 61, Steichen is 37... don't tell me Reich was "literally Steichen 5 years ago" when 5 years ago Reich was still almost 20 years older than Steichen is right now.  Steichen was an OC when he was 34, Reich wasn't an OC until his mid 50's.

So sure, Reich was an OC on a SB winning team, but that still gives Steichen a 20 year head start over him right now, and could get that same SB this year.

Literally that's all you need to say for me to not like Reich over Steichen.

Why are we hiring someone who has max 10 years left in their career?!?!  It's one of my biggest issues with the idea of Payton as well.

You hire Steichen and things go well, we don't need to look for a new HC for at least 20 years.  I thought Tepper wanted to be more like the Steelers, well the Steelers have only had what, 3 coaches in the last 60 years or something?

I do not get the age thing. Pete Carroll is 71 and still going strong.  Bill Belichick is 70.  Andy Reid is 64.  Those are some pretty strong teams.

"The average coach since 1990 (which, of course, includes Super Bowl-winning coaches) lasts about 69 games, which equates to just over four seasons with the team. Coaches who made the Super Bowl, but didn't win, lasted about 64 games, and coaches who never made the Super Bowl in their tenure lasted just under 60 games." ---the internet

yeah ok.  If that’s all you have as a argument.   Jeez.
I don’t even know why I wasted my time with you in the first place.

You know as much as I do that I would rag doll you in any sort of intelligent debate regarding the nfl

Some of y’all are gaslighting yourselves.

Reich as HC would be an AWFUL hire. You know its true whether you can admit it or not. Rather keep Wilkes and that ain’t saying much either.

You gonna keep that same energy when he does what Wilks couldn't do and actually wins the division?

College coaches who get seven year contracts tend to flame out by year three.

We hire Reich we will be looking for a new head coach in the next couple offseasons. The team seriously can't go through this cycle and think that Reich and Wilks are the best candidates.

this entire search has been a PR spin for Dave’s rep.

Dave set out to dispel criticisms of him and I’d imagine much of the search has been a sham.

id imagine the second Moore interview is just there to appease the fanbase because it seems pretty clear they really only had eyes on three candidates this cycle-Wilks, Reich, and Payton-and everything else was smoke and mirrors to make tepper look thorough and patient

We’ve come a long way from having Matt Rhule as coach. Wilks or Reich are not going to embarrass us. They may not excite us, but we root for a miserable loser franchise and we must take the small victories lest we rip our eyes out

This is 100% on point.

We're playing this safe and looking to be respectable again. Everyone in this thread knows Reich and/or Wilks won't win poo ultimately, but we'll be decent with a WC contender ceiling. Which is the goal I guess, just with an offensive lean instead of a defensive one if we decide to go with Reich.

People do need to stop using the "he didn't have a QB" excuse with Reich though, since he wasn't some innocent bystander in that. He stumped for his bible-buddy Wentz and caused the Colts to give up a 1st and 3rd there, then had to apologize so as not to get canned immediately for it.

But really, whatever. This orgs whole identity is tied up in being a .500ish team that over-performs from time to time. It doesn't really matter that much. We'll improve from the Rhule years back into our normal lane pretty much immediately.

And all 3 of them have constant rumors about them considering retirement after almost every season.

It's also pretty rare for coaches to still be doing it into their 70's as well, not to mention those are 3 coaches who have all won SB's as HC's.

Your'e really trying to compare Reich to 3 sure fire HOFers?!?!?!

C'mon now

    • At this rate, maybe he'll be a decent 8-9 QB on his 3rd HC by year 6. Standards are so low around here now. Tepper has done some serious damage to the fan base.
