Steelers LB under Cowher during Super Bowl victory

Joey Porter - 6'3 250

james Farrior - 6'2 243

Larry Foote - 6'0 239

James Harrison - 6'0 242

Panthers presumed LB's in 3-4

Jon Beason - 6'0 237

Thomas Davis - 6'0 240

Julius Peppers - 6'7 283

Na'il Diggs - 6'4 240

or

Dan Connor - 6'2 231

not much difference there at all...and we have more speed with equitable size.

Yes because..Teams rosters are very accurate when reporting weight..lol

But for an 34 OLB typical size is around 6'3- at 250+..You have players that are smaller in a 34 but you have to look at there bodys the way they are built. Most of our LB are too undersized for the 34 IMO.I rather stick with the 43..

Those that know former Pittsburgh coach Bill Cowher say he now is gearing up to return to the NFL next season. Cowher is mentally preparing himself to return to coaching and contemplating how he would structure his organization, according to those that know him.

He has been so hush hush about his plans, that there is no way he would say anything like that publicly, unless he has had a conversation with somebody on some team, sometime in the last month in a galaxy very very close to this one we are presently in. In a hemisphere we share the same weather patterns of a city named after a dead Queen.

too much? eh I'm buzzed...

Not sure how Cowher football is boring. His defenses were usually fun to watch. Attacking, swarming...

I could care less about airing it out on offense.

Much rather watch dominating defense, complimentary offense.

Really doubt Peppers will be part of our linebacker corp next year. But a portion of his $20 million dollar cap space will be...as well at the nose tackle position if Cowher comes to town.

Kemo will play the Nose...and will do it very well.

As far as OLB (IF we switched to a 3-4) I'd expect Cowher to find someone in the draft. The Steelers almost never signed free agents unless they really needed depth.

Pep would probably be gone but I'd like our LB corp to be:

OLB - Everette Brown

ILB - Jon Beason

ILB - Thomas Davis

OLB - Rookie or FA (there are a heck of a lot of good FA LBs this year)

I've never understood the staunch opposition to a 3-4 on this board. People act like you just spit in their mom's face whenever some one suggests it. I'm not even suggesting we switch to it, but I am open to the idea of it. Really, I'm up in the air as whether or not I want it.

I think our personnel would be suited to run it. We have a number of athletic and versatile defenders. There are many feasible combinations.

This combo seems like the most logical:

OLB, ILB, ILB, OLB: Peppers, Beason, Davis, Brown

DE,NT,DE: Brayton, Kemo(Thomas), Johnson

Here is a list of which players could play which positions:

OLB:

Peppers

Brown

Diggs

Davis (when bringing extra heat or to drop into coverage)

C.Johnson (he's got speed)

ILB:

Beason

Davis

Connor

Diggs

Anderson

L.Johnson

DE:

Brayton (seems like the ideal position for him)

C. Johnson

Peppers (when in prevent defenses)

Lewis (once again, seems to be a good fit)

Taylor

NT:

Kemo

Thomas

Free Agent
