Panthers receive permission to interview Sean Payton

I wouldn't mind Payton but not for the price NO is asking.

Payton would half ass the f*ck out of being coach of the Panthers. He’d collect his fat paycheck, collude with the Saints to tank the Panthers into oblivion, set the team back for potentially decades.

Then I would expect a report soon that despite receiving permission, Payton will not interview with us. If Payton does interview, I think it's fair to question the accuracy of Glazer's information/source.

Guy is a legit NFL head coach. No harm bringing him in to see what that looks like in an interview setting. Added bonus of getting his views and plans for our team (as others have posted).

I don't feel like looking things up, but from what I remember, SD wasn't sold on Brees being "elite" and had concerns about his injuries. So, they let him go. Then Brees went to NO and landed in Payton's system where they won a title together.

The whole which is more important, the QB or HC thing, is almost chicken and egg. You have to have both and it's high time the Panthers go looking in another direction because the defensive guys they have long preferred have yielded mediocre at best results even with a franchise QB. Harbaugh, despite playing QB, is another defensive, ball control guy ala Fox, Rivera, and every other Panthers HC.

Brees had a shoulder injury that the Chargers, Dolphins, etc. were extremely concerned about long term, letting him walk to NO was never a question of his talent. Aints took a chance on his health and it paid off.

 

Lol not at all, Harbaugh is a QB guru and just all around elite coach. Comparing him to Fox and Rivera shows you don't know anything about him.
