Trey Lance?

What do you guys think the Niners will do next year with him and if they look to trade him, what kind of return do you think they'd be looking for?

It really wouldn't surprise me if they want to try and move forward with Purdy, particularly if they can sign Brady and have him learn under the GOAT for a year.

If that happens, have to think they end up trading Lance for some assets that can help them win now, depending what he'd cost, that could be a very intriguing option for trying to land a QB this year as opposed to trading up in the draft.

at any cost?

I wouldn't give up anything as high as a 2nd for him, but if he could be had for say a 3rd and maybe a future 3rd or 4th, is that not worth kicking the tires on and at worst we have a backup QB who can run an option based offense if whoever the starter is gets injured?

You're still trading for his college potential at this point because his pro performance has been... disappointing (and that's being kind).

Especially true when a seventh round afterthought is doing in his rookie season what Lance hasn't been able to do being a focal point for two years.

So no, I wouldn't.

Hasn't he looked pretty awful when he has played so far? I guess if someone believes they can develop him and get him fight he could be an option. As far as on the Panthers im not sure if I would take that chance with the quarterback hell we have been in recent years.

He barely played last year, but in 2 games as a starter and another playing part of the game, he was 58% completion for 603 yards, 5 TDs, 2 INTs, with another 168 yards rushing and a TD on the ground.

That's not terrible for a guy who didn't play his last year in college due to D2 shutting down for Covid and was always going to be a bit of a developmental prospect to begin with.

Then this year you can't count that first game that he played as it was in a literal monsoon and then he got hurt after going 2 for 3 in his second game of the year.

He has 4 career starts lol, you can’t judge his pro performance whatsoever. And he’s 22 years old.

I would give up a 3rd not much more though. Maybe 2023 3rd and 2024 4th or something. And ideally the 3rd being their pick back not ours

If you wanna give up two picks for a guy who's only had four starts (and hasn't looked like anything special in them) more power to ya.

Me? No thanks.

    • We could easily pick apart yesterday’s game: dropped passes, blown coverages, bad tackling and red zone issues to name a few. But it was clear that this wasn’t the same team from earlier in the season. They fought back and hung with the champs until the end. That’s what I was excited to see and it gives me hope that we’re on the right track.
    • I think BY played well today and exceeded expectations. I will temper future expectations as he has to string together many games of consistent quality. One game doesn’t convince me that he is a franchise QB or even a guy you want to stick with for another season. One game doesn’t erase all the negative play and limitations from the past couple of years. I hope he balls out and continues to get better but for me the verdict is still out   That said, I think he gave the team and fans hope yesterday which is a lot more than what we had when we woke up Sunday morning.
    • He was vastly improved today and we need to see more of Bryce the rest of the season to continue evaluate him in order to decide what the heck to do with him at the end of the season. He must play at least like this and improve more from here the rest of the season in order for me to keep him. No more 123 yard passing games and want to see at least this output weekly from him. If this is Bruce improving slowly over time then Canales is even better with developing QB's than I thought he was but still too early to tell and we need to see him the rest of the way as he has at very least earned back the starting gig moving forward.
