What if Stroud doesn’t declare for draft…

he would do himself no good by not going to the NFL unless that's just something that he really doesn't care about, which could be the truth. i think the same thing was true for Luck. Now i'm not putting Stroud and Luck in the same category of talent. But you can tell that the NFL just wasn't the dream for luck that it is for most college players.

Luck delayed going because it just wasn't that big of a deal to go and he retired early because it just wasn't that big of a deal to stay. Basically the NFL wasn't that big of a deal to him.

If Stroud stays in college this year, or even of he's seriously contemplating it, i don't want him. Give me someone who really wants it and wants nothing more than being a player in the NFL. that guy is going to fight for the opportunity and he's going to be and stay hungry.

Next year he would already be behind Williams and Maye, possibly Penix too.

Which means he more than likely would avoid going to a terrible team like the Houston Texans.

It doesn’t really matter where a QB get drafted in the first round compared to the other guys in his class. What matters is where you go. You think Lamar Jackson is upset that Mayfield, Darnold, and Josh Rosen was taken before him in 2018? He went to a better organization despite being drafted later and has been far more successful than the above 3 players.

Very true. However, it’s easy to avoid a team you don’t like.

Just blow the interview.

Give bad answers, insult the coach, talk about how much you like massages, or standing outside schools watching kids play.

It’s not hard.

Way to risky. If he is any good he can get a generational wealth type contract in 4yrs or sooner. He goes back and gets a devastating injury that wealth is gone. College hotties, a chance at a championship, and a great NIL deal ain’t worth it.

It depends on the mindset of the individuals. It’s not always about the money for some people.

1) He may genuinely love the college life and  wants go for another shot at a national title.

2) He may feel that there are things about his game that need improvement or he believes he could benefit from reps he’d get over the course of another season

3) He could have a desire to be one of the all time greats and doesn’t want to start his career already behind the eight ball. The past/current history of the Texans isn’t that impressive, especially in terms of how things ended for their 1st round QBs (David Carr and Deshaun Watson). And, the roster leaves a lot to be desired. Can anyone on this board name 4 players on either side of the ball. I know I can’t.

I see your point. But if I were in his shoes I’d strongly consider staying for another year if I knew the Texans (or a woeful franchise in general) were determined to get pick me in the top 3-5 picks and it was within my power to keep that from happening. What good is all the money in the world if you hate going to work everyday because your team sucks or you wake up everyday in constant pain because of the beating you take week in and week out (ex: David Carr and Andrew Luck)?

Here's why Stroud stays, OSU was this  close to beating Georgia knows they would have walked over TCU.  Secondly, He's got about a 50/50 shot of being a Texan if he does declare--does not want.  Thirdly, he's probably top 3 hottest names in college football next year and the NIL money will be stupid.  Lastly, Stroud is probably betting he'll still be a top 5 draft pick next year and while not going #1 overall (see Chicago/Texans hot mess) that's not necessarily a bad thing.  The money isn't drastically different and won't spend the majority of his first contract trying to navigate a train wreck.

It's not a stretch that Stroud has seen what has happened to former alum Justin Fields or even perhaps talked to him about this.

But it was during the massage.

I wonder what the time deadline is tomorrow?  There's about 10 top 100 prospects yet to declare according to one site.

QB- Stroud

WR- Addison, Johnston

IOL- Van Pran

Edge- Smith

DB- Smith, Newton

LB- Campbell

TE- LaPorta

RB- Charbonnet

-I've mocked Campbell a TON, so that would suck if he stayed.
