So which QB do we think will be available at #9?

He has yet to log a season worth of games as he goes into year 3.

Neither has Fields.... we would be saying this exact same thing if Fields was on our roster.... Fields wasnt a freak injury like Horn's injury. Fields has been injured bc he isnt built for the type of football he is trying to play.

My god this message board would be eating fields alive right now if he had thrown for less than 1200 yards in his second season and never played a full season. Which is what has happened in Chicago this year.

I think someone will trade with Bears and grab a quarterback and don't think it will be Panthers.   Colts, maybe?

It's safe to say Young and Stroud will be gone early, I am hoping someone drops to us like Will Levis or Anthony Richardson.

Am I being delusional?  Is trading up our only option to land one of the top 4 QBs in the class?

Only Anthony Richardson, and maybe not even him, will last to nine.

Fields has played in 27 games and been available for more.

Horn has been available for 16 games and played in 16

Those aren't the same.  A season is 17 games.  Horn has yet to suit up for a season worth of games over 2 years.

and it's an old wives' tale that a QB shouldn't and can't run.   He is young with horrible weapons.  If you put him in a good position, he could run less.  It's not a Fields problem.  That's a Chicago problem.  And the more time he gets the smarter he will run.   But running isn't a problem.  It's a positive.

He is an elite runner.  Special.  And as a 2nd year player, in his 2nd offense already with bad weapons.....Fields had more passing TDs than the Carolina Panthers.

Passing on Fields was an obvious mistake.  Always has been.  Nothing wrong with referencing it.  It was the right call and we blew it.  And it was the right call frankly regardless of what happens with Fields.

if you need a QB....you don't draft a DB in the top 10.  Reason #4 at least of why we should get rid of our GM too.   Can't stay healthy is Jaycee Horn.  16 games in 2 years.  He has yet to log a season worth of games as he goes into year 3.

Jaycee was a huge mistake IMO

Dude Fields just led his team to the 1st overall pick and you think he'd save this franchise? lol

Apologists will not admit they are wrong.  Fields is heading into year three with 9 wins in two seasons--so 4.5 wins on average and finished with the worst record in the League.  They are dogging the heck out of the Bears organization as the cause.  Fields is better than what he has shown, but he's not a franchise savior either.  Next year he'll get the Bears between 5-8 wins, still miss the playoffs and they have to go into year four deciding on his fifth year option.

I don't think the Bears take another QB this draft, but if one's name is called, I won't be totally shocked either.   Like folks say here, keep swinging until you hit a home run.  Right now, Fields isn't looking like the home run so the Bears could take another swing.

As for us, Levis may still be there, but the most likely is Richardson is the only one left.  If that's the case and we pass on him (as we should) the Huddle will completely melt down.  A new staff can't wait until year 3 for a QB to maybe come into his own.  Richardson will need to sit a year--dude is SOOOOO green, likely two.  We don't have that kind of time.

People said Trey Lance was under-developed.  It was true (along with injuries) and he's not going to get to show what he really has until year 3.  Somehow a dude that is more raw than Lance is the right choice?

We stock up this year on weapons and take a rookie QB next draft (2024).

I think we’ll target Levis and trade up with Arizona.

Edit: Arizona’s draft slot jumped since I last saw it. We could get stroud if we work a deal with them.

Also, Young could fall pretty far because of his size. I don’t think he’s a lock in the top 5 at all.

    • Easily. To be able to plug in a backup LT without much drop off from your starter? That could mean the difference between playoffs or sitting at home in January. Good/serviceable smart young and healthy LTs that won’t lose you a ball game at reasonable $$ don’t just come along every day. Picture next year… the team is scrappy and competitive, 4 and 3 record, second place in the South. Morale is good. devastating run game that Let’s our marginal defense get plenty of rest. We play the Bucs and win, going to 5 and 3, but we lose Ickey to a high ankle sprain. Atl loses that week and are now at 5 and 3 as well. There is no Ickey and no BC because we let him go… and we go in to Atl the next week for a battle of first in the south. Week after that is the Jets…. Now they lose both by 10 and 3, respectively, and fall to 5 and 5 going in to their bye week. Atl is at 7 and 3. Out of typical Panthers desperation, they try to rush Ickey back in to the lineup with a saints game coming up…  Back to good old Panthers football, always playing catchup. Another season at .500 and the fans sadly rejoice in mediocrity, when playoffs were in reach. This team always overestimates its ability to pick up quality o line depth in the draft or FA and it always blows up in their faces. Like Chuba, I see him as being part of the core that Dan is trying to build. Work on his contract now and see if we can come out with something mutually beneficial. I’d consider 3 yrs at $25m to be very fair.
    • it would be great to have "double trouble" again, I even had a T- shirt for Williams and Stewart and the double trouble logo, was a great time to be Panthers fan. We shall see...
    • Sounds like a plan. Those are the teams we should be mimicking! lol
