Definitely understand people getting impatient and thinking this could negatively affect our coaching search.
But as an owner. Supporting the people in any business you own during a tough time is always more important.
Sure we may miss out on a coach but as someone said if they accept a job before interviews resume then it wasn’t meant to be and the coach probably didn’t want to be here.
Also Payton not being interview will probably be good.
Tepper did a good,

If any coach truly wants this job I can’t imagine they look at this action from Tepper and decide they don’t want to be patient. Anyone with a shroud of human decency will understand this.

Honestly hope Panthers decide to just cancel the interview with Payton alltogethor and this drives down the price the Broncos are willing to trade for him. That would be a win, win for us. We dont trade premium picks away for a 60 yr old coach and Saints get less or no draft capital if a deal cant get done.

It is still no surprise there are plenty of people who unfortunately don’t have that decency.

After this weekend, one of Kafka or Steichen will be done for the season, and can focus full time on these interviews. I keep checking this board and thread every day, fully knowing we will not be making a hire for at least another week or so lol

Kellen Moore will also be done after the 49ers dice Americas team up….but I don’t think anyone wants him anyway.

Why not? He's fielded a top offensive unit for longer than anyone else on the list (besides Payton).

He also changed it up to a ball control game managing type offense when Dak was hurt and kept the team winning.

He's a fine OC, but just that. He isn't HC material.

I’m pretty neutral on him. His team is pretty stacked and they managed to disappear in some games playing down to the competition’s level. That could be him or the HC at blame.

Person makes a comment I absolutely agree with...

Agree with this and hopefully keeping Campen too.

I heard Billy and John Ellis talking about the OL Coach in Philly being a legend in the NFL. If Steichen comes, he might perhaps bring Istvan with him.... a guy that should carry on the prestige that Stoutland has earned in Philly.

    • 65th in pass blocking rate is the issue. This isn't 1985 anymore. You're not paying LTs to be road grading run blockers.  He's above average for a starting LT as a run blocker. He's well below average for a starting LT as a pass blocker. The issue is that you're paying LTs primarily to be pass protectors.
    • Rd 1. Walker ESPN went big for the Carolina Panthers in their latest 2025 mock draft. This time, the worldwide leader enlisted the expertise of both Mel Kiper Jr. and Field Yates—who went pick for pick over three full rounds. Kiper Jr. started Carolina's haul with the obvious prospect at Pick No. 8, Georgia linebacker Jalon Walker: Carolina had big-time defensive issues last season. Walker can roam the second level with his sideline-to-sideline speed or fly off the edge to get home on the quarterback. The Panthers have to get some difference-makers on that side of the ball. Walker, the perceived frontrunner for the selection, played both off the edge and off the ball for the Bulldogs in 2024. He recorded a team-leading 6.5 sacks en route to capturing a first-team All-American selection and the Butkus Award.   rd  2. OT Ozzy Trapilo No. 57—Boston College offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo  Carolina must think offensive line early in this draft with a bunch of guys in contract years. Trapilo would be appealing for the Panthers as they try to improve Bryce Young's protection. One of those guys in a contract year is longtime starting right tackle Taylor Moton. The 6-foot-8, 316-pound Trapilo could serve as a depth piece in 2025 and a possible heir apparent to Moton, who turns 31 years old in August.   Rd 3 DL  Tyleik Williams Kiper Jr. wrapped up the pull at No. 74, with Ohio State defensive lineman Tyleik Williams: More defense for Carolina. Williams is stout against the run but also shows the quickness and suddenness to penetrate the backfield. He had 21 run stops over the past two seasons, which is good news for a Panthers team that allowed a league-worst 5.2 yards per carry in 2024.
    • As most now know, because of my topic about trading Moton, I think Tackle should be pretty high on our wish list. We have a guy at LT who most on this board still don't trust, although maybe last year was the year the lights turned on, and an aging RT who is going to want a contract that keeps him here as a starter until he retires. I just don't like the position we are in at the tackle position. JMO.
