You could argue he has played above average in one game (tampa) and still lost.

Throwing for an avg for 189 yards/game is not "above average"

You want to hitch your wagon to that?  fug that noise

That one game gave him a QBR that is good for 12th in the league?

I'm not saying I want to commit to a big starter contract, but if he plays well Sunday too, we'd be idiots not to bring him back on a cheap, two year deal to see if it's for real.

we tried, it didnt work, its time to cut ties and let another franchise waste money on him and try and to get him up to speed.   He needs to seriously be moved from this roster, back up or not, friendly deal or not he is not the answer

A guy who has shown he can play winning football for our team isn't even worth a backup role? Some of the Huddle posters' hatred runs deep.

End of the day, he's in year 5 and his performances aren't what you'd expect from a top pick nor do they line up with his contract.

I'm glad he's playing better, but the panthers still need a QB in this QB driven league.

This was the first year he came on and he did so in limited duty with a head coach fired and a new coach taking over. He looks better plain and simple. Nope he doesnt look like a prime Tom Brady but he looks damn decent and if he isnt asking for a ton of money in a new contract he should absolutely be resigned for a couple years in the offseason especially if we draft a rookie QB.

give him a couple more years because he has looked "decent" in a handful of games.  Got it.

What? So dont even resign him as a backup because you hate him that much? Like it or not the guy looks much better and looks to be a very legit backup QB AT LEAST. If he doesnt want to break the bank we should absolutely resign him to a reasonable contract and let him compete in training camp. If he doe snot want HUGE money we would be complete idiots to not work out something with him to keep him. Worst case scenario he would make a very reliable backup if he continues to look as he has.

I am convinced Darnold has plowed a few guys moms or girlfriends here. Their Darnold hatred is almost absurd. Nobody is saying he is the future. All some of us are saying is that if he does not want a monster contract, why not sign him and at least get ourselves a decent backup if he continues to look as he has.

It's not worth having the discussion tbh. Darnold could turn water into wine on Sunday and his detractors would still say he's 'trash' and want to trade the keys to BoA Stadium for Stroud.

He's been excellent since coming off IR, but very few have the awareness to recognise that.
