Predators @ Raleighwood 7PM

Aho is not where he needs to be. KK is not holding up his end of a big contract. Jarvis has been absent for several games.

Kochetkov may have heard all of the hype. Raanta is Mr. Softy and Anderson is on vacation.

This team can be special, but all the pieces need to be working together.

The team is special imo. Our bottom contract player should not be out-working our stars.

Honestly, Martinook maybe be our best player in the last 10 games or so. He is definitely consistent and plays hard. This is the best I have ever seen him play.

I’ll echo the sentiment that the first line does not look like a first line.

With that said, Kochetkov really should have saved 3 of the 4 goals that he gave up.

I also think the Canes need to find a player like Ekholm. We’ve been missing that type of physical presence probably since Michael Ferland. I’d like to see the Canes acquire a physical defenseman that can rotate in and out of the lineup with de Haan.

They've had the opportunities to acquire that player and have not pulled the trigger. It can not be Burns nor could it have been Hamilton or DeAngelo when they were here, because of their PP and offensive skill set.

That being said, I think we've had guys get hurt because there's no threat of retribution. What Ekholm did to Necas last night was borderline penalty when he didn't let him back on the ice after he was knocked into the bench. Our top line guys were getting knocked down on the ice all night, and this from a team with a pretty weak blue line. The Preds had no business being in that game last night, but the Canes let them dictate the play and the physicality.

Yeah it’s sad that Svech is probably are most imposing player when it comes to roughing it up at times but Svech can’t be trading penalties with Ekholm, it’s not worth it for us. Need a third pairing defenseman that can play but also rough it up a bit when needed.

It kind of irked me that Pacioretty was the only one that even remotely did something by giving Ekholm lip service.

I’d like to see Rod give the below a try:

Pacioretty - Aho - Jarvis

Svechnikov - Stastny - Necas

Martinook - Staal - Fast

Teravainen - Kotkaniemi - Noesen

Extra - Stepan

I think Max will move up to another line once he gets his game skates under him. His ice time last night was a hair over 16 minutes and I think he was surprised how gassed he was. It's going to take a few games for him to get back into game shape.

For sure, I just think a bit of demotion would do Teravainen some good. That first line hasn’t been great but I still see Aho and Jarvis trying, Turbo looks like he’s going through the motions at times.

We had a guy like that in Hakanpaa(sp?)

I never understood why we seemingly made no effort to resign him. While not a goon, he was never shy to mix it up when needed. He also fit our style of play and certainly wasn't a liability anywhere on the ice.

I miss the ice cream man...

    • We could easily pick apart yesterday’s game: dropped passes, blown coverages, bad tackling and red zone issues to name a few. But it was clear that this wasn’t the same team from earlier in the season. They fought back and hung with the champs until the end. That’s what I was excited to see and it gives me hope that we’re on the right track.
    • I think BY played well today and exceeded expectations. I will temper future expectations as he has to string together many games of consistent quality. One game doesn’t convince me that he is a franchise QB or even a guy you want to stick with for another season. One game doesn’t erase all the negative play and limitations from the past couple of years. I hope he balls out and continues to get better but for me the verdict is still out   That said, I think he gave the team and fans hope yesterday which is a lot more than what we had when we woke up Sunday morning.
    • He was vastly improved today and we need to see more of Bryce the rest of the season to continue evaluate him in order to decide what the heck to do with him at the end of the season. He must play at least like this and improve more from here the rest of the season in order for me to keep him. No more 123 yard passing games and want to see at least this output weekly from him. If this is Bruce improving slowly over time then Canales is even better with developing QB's than I thought he was but still too early to tell and we need to see him the rest of the way as he has at very least earned back the starting gig moving forward.
